If there every was a time when I said "There's 90 minutes of my life I'll never get back" it was after watching Naked Boys Singing. The description here says that it was nominated for Best Musical by a couple of places I had never heard of, but it is quite obvious where the reviewers' minds were. They certainly were not paying attention to the music (it was ok), dancing (white boys can't dance) and singing (dreadful!)
It should be re-named Narcissism On Stage. The only reason these men were cast is their own need to show it all. Having been in vocal music since junior high, I know very well what NOT to do, and these guys did it all.
Nearly all the songs dealt with nudity and what gay men like to do when they are naked (the list is quite limited).
One song, "Muscle Audition", was an painfully poor stab at recreating The Village People's "YMCA" and "Macho Man".
Other songs were full of double entendres, specifically to put the viewers' minds in the gutter. "Beat My Meat"? The butcher blocks, with mallets and stage prop steaks at the very end of the song were unbearable.
One number over used the term "dick-tionary" and a good portion of it was a round of all the different synonyms for the word 'penis'.
Very junior high level humor and not very funny. Bad singing.
Paying money to see "Naked Boys Singing" on stage is a way for people who want to watch a strip show, but want to justify it by saying "It's art!"

Very entertaining even if it didn't have the nakedness! Worth renting and I don't know if it is worth buying yet.

granted there was gratuitous nudity ( a couple of the guys were hot) i was not too impressed with this show. don't get me wrong, i liked it but was not that crazy about it. the song beat my meat was pretty good and there were a few others...but, don't get your hopes up on this one...it will leave you soft

I would have rather seen a flick about naked boys in sports. Entertainig little film - some of the songs seemed dated to me. Had to give it another half star because of the tight butts. Phong is a sweety.

I LOVED these Naked Boys Singing. And it is what it says it is - truth in advertising here. I didn't love this though because of their obvious...credentials as it wasn't all about being naked - more it was about being who you are - letting yourself be vulnerable inside as well as outwardly. Most of the songs were totally entertaining - quite cheeky really. ; -)
Clever and funny and touching and brave & I'll be humming, "Nothing on but the Radio" for days to come. Bravo boyz.

when I heared it was a musical turn movie, i was thinking on the line of "Hairspray" and "Dreamgirls" where it's film on location or even sets, not a filming of the the theater show.

That said and done I must say I didn't expect it to be such a great show seeing that I never saw the real musical, it's so real as it touch on topics in (almost) everyday life. The singing was great, the dancing was fun and most of all it had a good sense of humor behind it, it's a little in your face but it's those things you'll hate to love and I mean that in the best possible way. of cause, ten cute naked guys running around, dancing and singing will deff grab some attention, it's what caught my attention in the first place, hahaha.

if you have seen the theater production LIVE then you might get a little dissapointed that it's just a filming of the theater show and the cheap speacial effects won't help, but fans of it might want to relive the show again at the comfort of your home.

after all that said I LOVE the show and the whole concept behind it, I would really like to catch the live theater show but i guess this would be as close as I can get for now.

it's a fun, hilarious, cheecky (pun intented =P), a good fun movie for an open minded crowd, and of cause gay men...

Put your cursor on the poster to see the "plot". It's not really about being naked as much as personal acceptance of who you are. Some fun, some good music, some eye candy (obviously), and only one "borderline" song (still fun). Good addition to our collection. You might like it too.
