I'll be honest I cant remember the first very much but I did quite like this. The cast is very good for just a silly film, Jon Voight, Ed Harris, Harvey Keitel, Cage impressive. The film is really a kind of filler for the absence of Indy 4 or any Indy films really, and lets be ho...( read more)nest its nowhere near as good but it is fun. The story is silly as hell again, all revolving around the history of the US and its founding fathers. The cast do make it seem greater than it is for sure. The film is also alot funnier than the first I think, its quite humorous throughout and this actually adds and doesn't detract from the film. All the action set pieces are not really any different from any other movie and the final sequence inside some caves near Mount Rushmore seems to be ripped straight out of the Goonies haha but the whole boys mystery and adventure setup is always good fun and lighthearted, harking back to older cinema romps in black and white. They do have a nice pleasant charm to them, no excessive violence or swearing just good old fashioned treasure hunting. Just one thing, what on earth is happening to Nic Cages hair? hahaha

This is the sequel to the first National Treasure. Ben's great great grandfather was implicated in the assassination of President Lincoln. Ben and his dad set out to clear his name. In doing so they globe trot, kidnap the present day president and discover the City of Gold. Good ...( read more)original cast, as well as Ed Harris and Helen Mirren.

Again I watched this and liked it, funny, interesting, adventurous, cunning and not too much of an information overload. The kids will enjoy but expect lots of questions about science and history afterwards.

OH. MY. GOD. C'est comme ... WOW !

I couldn't possibly say why but I really enjoyed this movie a lot more than the last. Perhaps it was my lowered expectations, or maybe it was just that the cast were obviously having so much fun that it rubbed off on me. Pretty much the same as the last film but with more focus o...( read more)n just having a blast. From a decent car chase to a hilarious British piss taking outburst from Cage. Everybody has returned and even if they are forced in you're glad they're back. The film also has no problem venturing into the ridiculous. If you're going for silly fun you may as well have characters break in to Buckingham Palace, the Oval Office and kidnap the President. Harris lends a touch of class to the villain role. He's more complex than the average villain, simply wanting a name for his family. He's not a bad man, just someone who sometimes does bad things. His simple helping up of a character shows somebody conflicted with themselves. Mirren is also a nice addition but her pay cheque could have been saved for something else. It zipped by in no time and is a perfect brainless film for an afternoon. Even has me looking forward to another installment.

This movie is not very good in the adventure genere and its very unrealistic. I assume it?s a fun film but I found myself being bored at the predictable story and characters and the action that was not filmed well. I didn?t care much for the actors either. I havent seen the first...( read more) one but this is pretty bad.

Since Book of Secrets doesn't take its faux-intricate story seriously, there's no reason this review should either. full review

Even though it's wildly unbelievable and rather hokey at times, this is total entertainment from start to finish. full review

Absolutely brilliant - I loved it! As good as, if not better, than the first! Who cares if the plots are realistic or not - the ideas (the twin desks and the combination) are very clever and it keeps you entertained the whole movie. Can't wait for the next one!
