It's definitely better than the original film. It's smart, funny, thrilling and action-packed. The film takes the epic romance to new heights in the supernatural genre and delivers true movie exhilaration. A dazzling, heart-wrenching, riveting and tremendously entertaining film. ...( read more)Director, Chris Weitz has well-crafted this new chapter in the series and has made it more mature and more exciting than the first film. It packs great character development, searing emotion and awesome special effects. A remarkable cast of young and professional veterans doing an exceptional job. Taylor Lautner is sensational.

I was not a fan of the first Twilight film, and I never read the books, so my opinion may be a little biased here. But I do think these movies are overrated. That being said, I thought New Moon was better than it's original. The graphics are amped up, the kids lo...( read more)ok better, and it's obvious more money was invested in this one.

There's a lot not to like here, including the cheesy plot. It's clearly a teen romance flick that doesn't appeal to the older generations. I really liked Jacob's character, but his beefed up body and the disappearance of his shirt for the entire movie was awful film making! It was so clear that the director's intentions were just to say "here, screw the plot, look at this awesome body!" It was a blatant attempt to google it's young female audience... and in that sense, it was successful.

I was a little disappointed in the lack of action, and there is no main antagonist in this film which made it kind of boring. New Moon's only purpose seems to be to set the stage for a climatic 3rd film that should prove to have some serious action it. I'll keep my fingers crossed though.

Well this was 10x better than Twilight. I think i enjoyed the movie more than the book...the book kinda depressed me...movie was good...Robert's acting was completely terrible and i think Kristen stepped it up in this one. Taylor definitely stole the screen though as expected. Ca...( read more)n't wait for Eclipse.

Taylor Lautner's abs are truly the most superhuman aspect of this film.

Warning - spoilers! The sequel to 'Twilight' continues the doomed relationship between Bella (human) and Edward (vampire). The opening is very slow and depressing as Edward leaves Bella in order to protect her. She's very fickle and quickly falls into the arms of Jake (who happen...( read more)s to be a werewolf - how unlucky in love and tragic?). Like a modern day Romeo and Juliet, who knows how it will all end. Jake (Taylor) is very buff and much nicer than Edward (Robert).

I have to say that, being familiar with the Twilight series, this is about what I expected.
Since there isn't actually an antagonist, the entire plot revolves around Bella dropping into a black and white world after her sparkly boytoy ditches her. Presumably because Pattinson ca...( read more)n't stomach Kristen Stewart's less than mediocre acting any more than I could. She has exactly one facial expression (vaguely vapid boredom) and delivers almost all her lines in a monotone that Ben Stein is probably jealous of. I found myself hoping Bella would kill herself just so she'd stop soliloquizing in voice overs.
Robert Pattinson adds more agony to the movie by acting like he has less personality than a couch, and spending most of the ending shirtlessly fabulous. This is a personal affront to me, because he claims to not only be a vampire, but a straight vampire.

The pace is extremely slow, and focuses more on Bella's moping than on any romantic bond she could develop with Lautner's character, Jacob the werewolf. Credit where it's due, Taylor Lautner seems to be the only actor in this film that doesn't act like he'd rather be getting a lobotomy. There is no less than one shirtless male in every scene, and if he's wet all the better. It's nice to look at, certainly, but it doesn't add anything to the story, which is in dire need of help.

    SUMMARY
fantasy romance starring Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning, Robert Pattinson, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz and Chaske Spencer. based on the novel of the same name by Stephenie Meyer. directed by Chris Weitz...( read more).

at a time when most teenagers are excited and cannot wait for their lives to begin, Bella Swan (Stewart) is dreading turning eighteen. she is afraid of getting older because the love of her life, vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson), will never age. however, that fear is soon the last thing on Bella's mind. after a very close call, Edward and his family decide it is best for them to leave the small town of Forks, Washington... and for Edward to never see Bella again.

broken and devastated, Bella falls into a deep depression and just when it seems as though her life is over, in enters her childhood friend, Jacob Black (Lautner). Bella realizes that as long as Jake is around, that deep hole left by Edward seems to not be as severe. she also realizes that whenever she risks her life, Edward "appears" to tell her to stop being foolish. so she pushes herself and risks her life to be able to see Edward once again, if only for just a few brief moments. however, things soon change when after an awkward night out at the movies, Jake disappears for days. when he returns, he is no longer the Jake that she remembered and she soon realizes that her best friend has a dark secret of his own.

    MY TAKE
let me start by saying that I loved this movie so much more than the first. definitely a much truer adaptation than Twilight, this film is a definite improvement.

I had been jones'n for my wolves and was very happy with the cast of actors that they chose, including local AZ boys Alex Meraz and Kiowa Gordon, as well as the very talented Chaske Spencer and the beautiful Tinsel Korey. however, the actor that most surprised me was Taylor Lautner. yes yes, he is a very cute young man with an insane build, but the kid can act. who knew!

maybe it seemed as though Stewart was delivering a great performance as the deeply brokenhearted Bella because she does depressed so well, but I liked her much much more this time around.

and of course, Dakota rawk'd what small time she had on screen as the deliciously wicked Jane of the Volturi clan. cannot wait for Eclipse and Breaking Dawn!

better direction, better CGI, better acting... just all around better! loved it! ♥

This film isn't better than TWILIGHT!!
  • February 8, 2010
As movies go, I appreciated "New Moon" better than the first movie "Twilight" . But since i've already read the four books or should i say 4 1/2 (including the unfinished "Midnight Sun"), i think the Twilight Series will be one of my favorites series to date ;)

Around about here, Pattinson gets to bare his own chest -- a bad idea in a movie that also features Taylor Lautner- and we notice that while his face is heavily pancaked, his torso is of a normal huma... full review

Bella's confusion about the mystery of boys, adrenaline and testosterone matches her confusion about her soul. For Weitz, it's all just F/X. full review

I've seen this movie in theaters and I got to say it really is good. I laughed at some parts and it kept me interested. I am on Jacobs team but one thing they got wrong is they're not werewolves, they're shape shifters and yes there is a difference. Even though werewolves, shape shifters and lycans are based on the concept of a wolf form they all have different meanings. Shape shifters can change to their animal at will, werewolves change only during a full moon. Look up these terms if you wish to know a better explanation.

The directing was terrible but you can't blame the actors because they did they're job flawlessly but the directing it was just terrible. Chris Weitz should not come back to do Breaking Dawn and saying that it was the first film he directed is no excuse.

I loved the book series...loved Twilight and absolutely loved New Moon. The music is beautiful in both movies. In New Moon, I especially liked Possibility by Lykke Li and Hearing Damage by Thom Yorke. There is action, neat effects, passion and drama and comedy. You don't have to read the books to get it, but it does help.

It was good, but not that good as part 1.. I wanted to see more Edward, cause he's so important in the story (and he's way cuter than Taylor Lautner :) hihi).
The special effects were great, it was a really interesting movie, again.
The acting was super! Kristen Stewart did great!
But.. as I said, I want to see more of the Cullens, not only Edward, but his family as well.
And Victoria? Such an important character, and such a small part in New Moon? Hello! That is not right!
Nice to see Dakota Fanning as well :) She grew up!
