A darker more uncomprimising background/plot is the set of this installment of Police Story which is different to its predecessors. Jackie Chan visits a familiar role with great action and stunt set pieces. I found the film to be good on most fronts with a rather high production ...( read more)value, the plot like most other action movies was always going to be farfetched but the movie is enjoyable paced well throughout. its great to see Jackie still doing great stunts and action choreograpghy with decent acting after so many years. A good movie which sees Jackie abandoned his comic character for a broken, alcoholic cop on his last nerves. Jackie is Hong Kong's finest, until he is taken into a deadly game by ruthless thrill seeking criminals - in which his entire squad is killed.
Fast forward one year late...( read more)r, Jackie is down on bottles, refuses to marry his girlfriend and thoroughly depressed, until a young, charismatic police officer becomes his partner who tries to save his soul while helping Jackie to break the failed case which has haunted him the past year.
The gang, led by a ruthless leader with personal issues, is hell bent on killing cops, and when Jackie enters the game once again, he then becomes their target.

Everyone knows Jackie as the goofy comic with lightning fast moves, but Jackie is a very convincing and is not just an action star, but plays the drama well. What makes this movie is the strong performances and Jackie supported by a young cast which is great - Nicholas Tse the standout as the egnimatic young officer.

If your in a mood for change, and something along the lines of an action thriller, Jackie Style, then this is pretty good in my books. Of course, action is still the same - raw, hard and very Jackie.

So much better than the old police story. This is the one where Jackie Chan fights with Legos.

First off I just have to say oh my god. Now as you may or may not have noticed I'm not the type of person to send out these recommendations. I believe people will watch as they want and nobody wants to read me ramble about something. This movie is where I break my rule as it was ...( read more)just so amazing it utterly blew away me and my expectations. This movie isn't a typical martial arts film which some people might think when they see the name Jackie Chan. This movie is, in fact, a crime action drama. I equate finding and watching this movie to the first time I watched Boondock Saints or Equilibrium only, and I'm almost sorry to say this, cooler. This movie isn't something that is widely known about or seen by the masses which is why I compared it to the two previous movies because when I found those films they were brand new and didn't have the cult following they do to this day.

To get an accurate idea of what to expect with this movie take the ingenious story telling of the first Saw, take the clever games and tricks and mix it with the drama/action/buddy copy chemistry of Lethal Weapon. What do you get? New Policy Story. This is the fourth movie in the Police Story saga and needless to say it is nothing like it's predecessors style or story wise or character wise when you get right down to it. Chan still plays the detective we have seen in previous films but they aren't a requirement to enjoy this. Sure the first has the most awesome mind blowing stunts ever seen in films to this day, this time the stunts may not appear as over the top but when you look at when this was released compared to the first police story you got more than 12 years. Chan is the only returning star that you would recognized if you have seen the prior films in the series further proving that it isn't necessarily a direct sequel in the normal way of thinking, but he still plays a detective that isn't afraid to toss the rules out the window. Sure Jackie is older and wiser, his character this time seems to have the confidence and the serious stature that isn't exactly something one comes to expect from his films. Jackie still plays Inspector Wing, the main detective, but instead of having the guy we all know and love and can beat up the whole of China with a step ladder or a bucket and mop, he plays a real, down to earth style man. The start of the movie, that is the first five minutes, it may not seem like much but as soon as you get past that the real fun starts.

What you have are a bunch of individuals that have it out for the cops. Chan is the detective that is assigned with taking them down. What follows are twists and turns and some rather unexpected moments that are filled with sincerity and real emotion that make you feel that connection with the characters on the screen. The action scenes are intense and the actors all play their parts perfectly. If you have ever enjoyed a Jackie Chan movie, a crime drama or are just looking for a good film then this movie is something you can not miss.

For me it's one of the the best Jackie Chan modern movies if not the best. Great movie with great movie shots and got two great fight scenes. Less humor comparing Jackie Chan's other movies yet it's able to make viewers happy and sad instantly. Sometimes feels whether it's little...( read more) gone on with the

Great action film! It's funny and it's very entertaining meaning this a fun film!

I cannot get too enthused about this movie. The characters are cliched, the plot is very slim, the script is rather slack and poor while the action sequences are mostly revisits of the old JC movies and what is currently available now (e.g. Infernal Affairs - the rooftop showdown...( read more) at the end). There is, however, a spectacular bus scene that would make Speed look somewhat pedestrian - though that particular action sequence does remind me of the first two Police Stories.

Another negative was perhaps the casting of the movie. Daniel Wu - JC's protege - was poorly casted as the villian of the movie. To me he seems somewhat overexposed at the moment, though I do not doubt his ability (see One Nite in Mongkok for instance).

Overall, it was rather a disappointment. Even though the movie is of a total new spin to the other three movies, this new movie offers nothing thrilling and at one point it was almost laughable and predictable at the turns of the storyline.

Here's the scoop: The greatest cop squad in town has Inspector Wing(jackie chan) who faces a group of rich cop-haters because they're misunderstood by their parents. So all their crimes turned into x-box games. So then Wing fails the mission. 1-2 years he got despress, until a young man (whom Wing had rescue when the boy was a boy) had lied his police i.d. to help Wing on feet..Then the squad found clues on the games to solve their crime locations. After that, there was an happy ending of Wing's girlfriend marrying him.
