Critic Reviews

  • Anton Bitel, Eye for Film

Pretty much everything in New Police Story seems so contrived that Alan Yuen's screenplay may as well have been written with a crowbar.

  • MaryAnn Johanson, Flick Filosopher

Is there such a thing as a bad Jackie Chan movie? If nothing else, a Jackie Chan movie always has the endlessly charming Jackie Chan, who's like the Energizer Bunny as played by Harold Lloyd.

  • Don Willmott, Filmcritic.com

A tip of the hat to Chan for taking a break from his big-budget Hollywood mugging to return to his roots and do what he does best: shake up the streets of Hong Kong.

  • Pablo Villaca, Cinema em Cena

Chan se sai muito bem em um papel mais dramático do que de costume, mas, embora as seqüências de ação sejam eficazes, o filme é longo demais e acaba perdendo o ritmo em vários momentos.

  • Urban Cinefile Critics, Urban Cinefile

Spectacular stunts and a gripping crime story deliver on the promise of Jackie Chan's New Police Story, even paying homage to the seminal bus stunt sequence in the 1985 original Police Story that set Chan on the road to superstardom.

Except for the dufus who plays his new replacement partner, this is WONDERFUL : ) It's Jackie Chan to begin with, so, really, we should just watch it even we think poorly of it in the end. But on the side of arguing that it's worth watching, no matter how good or bad it… More

A comeback from JC with new touch!

This is a great Jackie Chan movie. The story is very good and the usual Jackie Chan stunts/fights are entertaining. This is also a more serious movie with minimal comedic scenes as some of Jackie's older movies tended to be more funny.

A good movie which sees Jackie abandoned his comic character for a broken, alcoholic cop on his last nerves. Jackie is Hong Kong's finest, until he is taken into a deadly game by ruthless thrill seeking criminals - in which his entire squad is killed. Fast forward one year… More
