In the mid-1970s, German filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim visited New York City for the first time and fell in love with the Big Apple; while the Seventies are often seen as a time of decline for New York, von Praunheim was energized by the downtown art scene, the sexual underworld and the celebrities of Manhattan nightlife.
