Next left me a bit disappointed, yet it is not a bad film. It is entertaining enough to continue watching, but the acting and script could have used a bit of tweaking. The role for Mr. Cage was a perfect fit for him. He did a great job. Julianne Moore is usually a much better...( read more) actress than this film showed. Ms. Biel, who normally is horrible, did fine with the script. The bit players weren't interesting enough and the story really needed a bit more bang for the buck.

I finally got to see this movie on Space. This means, of course, that since it was edited for TV, I probably missed a bunch of it. That being said, it was still a decent movie, full of interesting twists. But the ending left me hanging, wondering "What the hell happens next?!?...( read more)". For that, it only gets 3.5.

Nicolas Cage used to be such a great actor, remember? It?s getting hard to isn't it! Well, that said, this film isn't too bad, it?s better than most Philip K Dick adaptations anyway! I think the real problem is Lee Tamahori. He's made a couple of half decent films but he just doe...( read more)sn't know how to get the best out of his actors. Cage is a Shadow of his former self, Biel is wooden at best and Moore, who played a similar character in Children of men, and was very good in it, was hammy to say the least! Still, it was fairly entertaining and I quite liked the ending but it isn?t as good as reading The Golden Man!

OK where to begin, guess what, I didn't like this either lol another Phillip K Dick adaptation and another movie about being able to see the future or a couple minutes ahead anyway. Its a nice idea, hardly original these days, back then sure, now no. Minority Report was a better ...( read more)film, slightly different idea of seeing the future but basically the same.

This film doesn't really look special, its drab and normal looking, abit average really, I don't mean there should be huge spaceships and effects but it just looks boring, there's nothing to make you sit up and take notice, and it is or was suppose to be a sci-fi story of sorts.

Cage is as usual, over the top, looking old and with less hairline and frankly a poor actor all round, never did think much of him, always got the impression he's where he is today cos his uncle is Francis Ford Coppola. The remaining cast are mundane and play the usual sterotype baddies and goodies. The action is also laughable really, Cage dodging bullets, beating everybody up as if they were muppets and tacky looking 'future sightings'.

There's just no punch here, I was bored, the plot can be alittle loose and the ending is kind of a contradiction of the whole future seeing premise, only 2min ahead for himself???? then whats the ending mean then?
This is a video shop rental only for sure, dont expect much here.

"If you can see the future, you can save it."

A man with the ability to see the future and change the outcome of events before they occur is forced to choose between saving himself and saving the world in this supernatural thriller starring Nicolas Cage and directed by Le...( read more)e Tamahori (Die Another Day, The Edge). Cris Johnson (Cage) is a Las Vegas magician who possesses the unique ability to witness the events of the immediate future moments before they happen. As a child Cris was subjected to a series of cruel experiments by government scientists and doctors, but a change of name and a new identity allowed the tortured psychic to elude detection and start a new life away from the prying eyes of his former captors. Though his clairvoyant vision only extends a few minutes into the future, it has still allowed Cris to eke out a living as a low-rent Las Vegas magician while earning a little extra cash at the blackjack tables. Up to this point in his life Cris has never used his power for anything substantial, but when he experiences a vision of Los Angeles being incinerated in a nuclear holocaust, the small-time magician realizes that he could hold the key to saving millions of lives. But as low as he has tried to lie in recent years, Cris has never completely escaped detection by the government. Now, as terrorists prepare to unleash the ultimate horror on an unsuspecting city, FBI counter terror agent Callie Ferris (Julianne Moore) sets out to capture Cris and convince him to use his exceptional gift to prevent the nuclear nightmare from becoming a terrifying reality.

Philip K. Dick has been the inspiration for many movies from big hits like Blade Runner, Total Recall, and Minority Report, to box office bombs like Screamers and Paycheck. His story, "The Golden Man" is the basis for Next. If you know what deus ex machina is, you'll know roughly how the ending goes. You'll also know how the ending works if you watched the TV show Dallas. I won't ruin the movie by telling you how it ends, but as the end credits rolled, I got a feeling that I was ripped off, simply because the ending is exactly what writers are told never to write. I didn't expect it, but it was disappointing nonetheless.

This movie have the most massive bizzare reviews, coming from Flixster's. I think I'm gonna choose the bad side. Next starts out good, predcitable (but watchable), and become this boring - more predictable movie, and at some point i can't stand looking at Nic Cage; and his half b...( read more)ald headed head! (this guy needs a serious hair implant lol)

I dislike it, and kinda regret wasting my time watching it, so you guys decide.
    4/10.

Slick movie with an interesting concept. Acting left a bit to be desired and it got a little silly at times, but overall, it was enjoyable

(Nicolas Cage) plays Cris Johnson, a magician with a secret gift of knowledge who can see what happens next in the future. There's just one thing, Cris can only look for 2 mins & thats it. As Cris is going around the world changing things, Special Agent Ferris (Julliane Moore) of the FBI is on the hunt for Cris in which they need him for a very important mission to help'em with. As this goes on, Cris meets a beautiful civilian named Liz (Jessica Biel) who helps him not get caught. Later on, things start getting very bad for Cris as he not only puts hisself in danger but Liz, Ferris, & everyone else as well when he witnesses a terrorist (Thomas Kretschmann) who is planning to set off a nuclear bomb. Cris must combine with the FBI to stop the terrorism before civilization comes to an end.

Next was a pretty darn good film filled with so much entertainment & twists that you don't see coming. Next is a very fast moving flick with enough thrilling action sequences/fantasy to keep you watching & intrested. Some of the effects looked kind of cheesy but they still keep you wanting more. Nicolas Cage played his character well just like he always does. There's only one thing that I didn't like about him & not seem hisself was his hair. It was just dreadful looking that made you think that it wasn't him. Nic still manages to entertain the viewers with his actions. There's also quite a bit of humor in this as well. I loved Jessica Biel in this even though I already love her in anything she plays. I thought she acted very well. Jessica is stepping up her game in different roles she takes. Julliane Moore was also good. She did what she had to do & pulled it off nicely. Overall, Next is solid piece entertaining action flick thats worth seeing again & again. If you love action/scifi then this one is for you. Its not to be taken seriously just have fun with what it is.

Here is the thing about the future. Every time you look at, it changes, because you looked at it, and that changes everything else.
