this is a really great movie its funny to if you have not seen it then you must see it and The basic premise of the movie is an experiment gone wrong in 1959, when a capsule is released from a spaceship. The thing crashes and infects a a teen whose body is cryogenically frozen. Flash forward about 25 years or so to the current time of the movie and we're introduced to the three main characters Chris, J.C., and Cindy. It is pretty much your typical college campus romance comedy, until Chris and J.C. accidentally release the frozen body, which they were trying to steal for an initiation into a fraternity. The body goes around campus, infecting people, using slugs that live in the head to do it. The slugs get in through the mouth and you're basically screwed once it happens, for you essentially become the living dead
Genre veteran Tom Atkins plays a huge role as a detective who was connected to that circumstance in 1959 and is called in to investigate the current murders on campus. His character ends up making half the fun of the movie, because he is such a bad ass. Most of the film's many quotable lines are delivered by Atkins and armed with his trusty 12 gauge, he makes for fun viewing.
The film enters a whole other zone when the bus full of fraternity guys, who were going to the sorority house to dance or whatever with the girls, are infected. Atkins chews up scenery at this point and is in his element, as the crazed dectective, and begins wasting as many of these "zombies" as he can. The best quote of the film is given at this point as he is looking out the window of the sorority house full of the panicked girls: Detective: "The good news is your dates are here".....Girl: "What's the bad news?"....Detective: "They're dead." Ha ha, freakin' epic. What follows is some ass kicking fun. its really funny and good horror film and the acting was kinda stupid to but still a great movie to at night
and its not really scary either i mean when i saw this movie when i was a kid i though it was gonnna happen to us but i dont belive in that and i kinda though this movie was funny and kinda stupid to but still a gd movie and Night of the Creeps stars Tom Atkins, Jason Lively and Jill Whitlow. The film is notable as both an earnest attempt at a B-movie as well as a spoof of the genre. While the main plot of the film is related to zombies (its title is a play on Night of the Living Dead) the film also mixes in takes on slashers and alien invasion films.
and I love the story line of the alien invasion and also the beginning was filmed stunningly and the emotions of the actors are good. Some cheesy dialog is in this but hey what can you do? It was 1986 lol but still a gd horror filck for horror fans and its also like the movie silther which it so stupid and So the guys try to join a fraterinty, and have to go grab a corpse and put it on a rival frat lawn. The guys go, find a body but the body seems to be alive! Thus starting the cavalcade of murders in the area.

So these slug like creatures are zipping around the area, inserting themselves into people's mouths and turning them into ghoulish zombies. Perhaps you've heard of this plot already? 2006's "Slither" borrowed heavily from the same ideas as this film, although it's unknown if James Gunn did it on purpose or if he was simply inspired by many of the same things as Fred Dekker.

The thing though that disappoints me about this film is that it seems that this really just doesn't deliver as much as say "Slither" delivered on the same premise. What gory shots of zombies and all that are spread apart sparsely throughout the film. The end is the big seller, as we see the Prom Date Frat Guys turned into zombies and our protagonists fight off the horde. Then at the end we see our hero Tom "Turn It Off!" Atkins face off against a pile of slugs in the basement.

Overall this movie is fun! It definitely is worth the watch if you are just a fan of the outer space slugs that turn people into Zombies type idea. Just don't go into it like me, thinking it'll be a gore fest.
and The first part of this movie is pure gold, aliens are chasing after another renegade alien, who has an experiment they don't want the little guy to let loose. Unfortunately for earth, he does let it loose. We're in 1959 now and at this college campus. This couple go on a date at lovers lane, despite warnings from a young police officer of the raving lunatic wandering the streets. They don't listen. The kid finds this vial that contained the "experiment" the aliens sent down and this slug like creature attacks him. so now you know and Fred Dekker did a great job filming this movie really gd and tom atkins did great in it to when i was a kid i USED to think he was kinda cute but i must have been high so high and i though he was kinda cute in creeepshow 2 well thats becuz he didnt have a bread lol and For the genre, this film is outstanding. It has absolutely everything a horror film should. This includes a performance by Tom Atkins that is worthy of serious recognition. Zombies, exploding heads, creepy crawlies and a date for the formal. Like I said this ones got it all. Alien experiment is jettison from space and lands in Anytown USA where it releases a slug like creature that wants to get in your mouth and lay eggs in your brain. The movie begins black and white set in the early 60s, which is an awesome touch by the way, and then jumps ahead to the mid eighties where were treated to a sorority gals, frat nazis, a couple of pledge geeks(our heroes), Tom Atkins cop on the edge(who delivers some of the best lines in cinema history,i.e."Duck! It's Miller Time!" Exploding heads aplenty, flamin'zombies, a great lawnmower kill, zombie cat, zombie dog, a parapelegic whos faster on crutches then his able friend, and a hilarious janitor who has only one repeating line. NOTC is everything you want from a film, a perfect 10! so really worth seeing
    Detective Cameron: What's this?
Detective Landis: It was a grad student. He was scheduled to work here this evening.
Detective Cameron: Looks like he worked a little too hard, huh?

Detective Cameron: What is this? A homicide, or a bad B-movie?

    [answering phone]
    Detective Cameron: Thrill me!
    Sergeant Raimi: Detective Cameron?
Detective Cameron: No! Bozo the Clown!

Detective Cameron: Corpses that have been dead for twenty-seven years do not get up and go for a walk by themselves!

Not scary. Not funny, either in a cheesy or clever way. Not interesting, not dramatic, not visually gripping. The protagonist has absolutely nothing going for him. His love interest is not cute. His buddy is not amusing, nor is the detective in charge of the case. Even the jump scares fail. There's really no reason to watch this.

An alien fugitive shoots some sort of parasite onto the earth, where it infects a madman who is later cryogenically frozen and thawed out by some nerds rushing a fraternity at Corman University, leading to a zombie plague. A fun little parody/tribute to B-movies that has real affection for its source material.

Night of the Creeps is one of the better horror/comedies of the 1980s. The script is clever, paying homage to everything from 1950s sci-fi horror to the zombie craze started by George Romero to 1980s slasher films and even John Hughes.

But Night of the Creeps isn't just a comedy. The serious horror aspects of Night of the Creeps are extremely well done. The film is suspenseful, the effects are good, and there is plenty of gore for fans.

Funny and cheesy in the best way possible. Bloody, gory, and deranged. This movie is f#@*& great!

Every horror fan needs an injection of Night of the Creeps. If you can't have fun with this movie then you need to immediately go out and find your sense of humor. It might be lost in one of the "Saw" films, lol.

Night of the Creeps is directed by Fred Dekker, the same man who brought us The Monster Squad. If you've seen how great The Monster Squad is then you should already know that Fred Dekker knows how to make one hell of an entertaining horror flick. The Monster Squad is a classic and Night of the Creeps is definitely right up there with it. Night of the Creeps pays homage to 50's sci-fi/horror films and kind of like the movie "Scream" in some ways, it's aware of exactly what it is, making it known that it's nothing more then just a bad B 80's horror movie(pointed out through many little inside jokes from the dialogue).

"Night of the Creeps stars Tom Atkins, Jason Lively and Jill Whitlow. The film is notable as both an earnest attempt at a B-movie as well as a spoof of the genre. While the main plot of the film is related to zombies (its title is a play on Night of the Living Dead) the film also mixes in takes on slashers and alien invasion films.

The classic B-movie Plan 9 from Outer Space is first referenced and then later watched by a character in the film. This is an intentional reference to the fact that the plot of the film is itself similar to Plan 9. Despite a strong cult following, the film has yet to be officially released onto DVD."

Night of the Creeps knows exactly what it's doing, and it does it well. The cheese factor wasn't an accident, it was purposely planned and it was brilliant as hell. If this film didn't have all the cheese that it did I guarantee it wouldn't have been as good. I loved everything about this film, especially the one-liners. From the first opening scene I knew right away I was in for a treat. The black and white 50's setting with an escaped mental patient ending in a blood bath was a beautiful touch. Then cut to 1986 pledge week, with cheesy 80's rock music, handsome jocks with no brains, a beautiful educated goodie-good girl and the two unlucky dorks who suddenly become hero's and might actually save the day. Not to mention the bad ass cop, played by the awesome Tom Atkins, who just can't seem to get a break and lives his life in a death wish, fucking up any slug infested zombie that crosses his path. Hell Yeah!...Atkins for president! lol

Bloody and outrageous. This movie is insanely fun and a must see for any horror fan who appreciates really good B popcorn flicks. This movie has everything a ("bad")horror movie needs. Highly recommended!

This was the ultimate 80's teen horror/comedy and ranks up there with the bigger budgeted and much more overhyped "Fright Night". Lively plays the likeable hero but Atkins steals the film from the kids and the creeps. Good cameos from Kayser(Bubba from "Mama's Family") and the legendary bit actor Dick Miller.

The original Slither. Holy cow, it's cheap, but effective. This is what '80s horror is supposed to look like, or at least '80s sci-fi.

Classic! This flik is not your typical 80's flik, But its cult status amongst fans is agreed on: This is a keeper. A great gem from spent childhoods, this film is prolly the one that you saw that made films like SLITHER make sense. Definately infamous in its cast, and equally hard to get on DVD, It stands alone amongst many other 'boy meets girl and needs to save her ass' fliks from the 80's...Watch for Full Moon regulars!

A really fun movie from the guy that made "The Monster Squad". It is a total B Movie but it knows it is and it has fun with it. The movie Slither kind of ripped this movie off. If you like Monster Squad you'll probably enjoy this film as well.

Great 80's b-movie! It's a mix of zombies, alien invasion and elements of teen comedy, but above all, is a tribute to the horror genre: from the 50's Sci-fi to the contemporary Horror. Several and evident references, some good splatter effects, alot of hilarious quotes and comic situations make this film really enjoyable. And Tom Atkins is memorable!

Classic 80's Horror. It's basically Slither on a college campus with the added benefit of a kick-ass Tom Atkins being awesome. If you liked Slither, odds are you'll love this more since it did it first and did it better.

Well I finally saw Fred Dekker's other mid 80's horror "hit". Overall after all the hype and all the stuff I read about Night Of The Creeps I was slightly disappointed with the finished product. It seems they could have done more with the film but either the budget or the studio itself didn't allow for the film to be fully let loose.

The first part of this movie is pure gold, aliens are chasing after another renegade alien, who has an experiment they don't want the little guy to let loose.

Fast forward to 1986 where we see two geeky guys trying to score some chicks. It was starting to seem like your typical 80's flick, it pretty much is in alot of ways, but that was part of the fun of the film.

So the guys try to join a fraterinty, and have to go grab a corpse and put it on a rival frat lawn.
