I used to think that I loved this remake. It turns out its dialogue and acting are at a high school level. I'll stick with the original.

Less atmospheric and more commercial than the 1968 original. This 90's remake has the advantage of a larger budget and better effects but only a fraction of the gruesome ambience.

A Romero remake starring Tony Todd and directed by Tom Savini! So, why isn't it very good? I think the acting let it down and the lack of gore (considering its director). Its a pointless remake for people who don't watch black & white films as far as i can see! I did however like...( read more) the different ending, it was unexpected and nearly as good as the originals.

a nice companion piece in the Romero cannon of zombie films

Rewatched over the net outage. The question I have to keep asking myself is would I be so biased to liking this if it weren't Savini's feature directing debut. And I've concluded this - if it weren't Savini's, I'...( read more)d want to know whose it was because it's a damn good movie especially compared to what it has to live up to. I love the character/plot modifications. This movie allows you to more openly and loudly hate Cooper, and also to examine Ben as a full character, faults and all, and not just "the hero of the day". This Barbara is way more interesting than a shell shocked one , and the end of this movie stands on par with the end of its original (though they are complimentary of each other - boosting both endings to better dramatic heights than if there were just one ending).

It gets that extra half star (beyond the four) just because it kicks ass enough to have, for me, near infinite replay value.

A remake done with an actual sense of time and place. Gorier than the original (Tom Savini is in charge here, so...) but also with some nice twists here and there. Tony Todd is seriously a very underrated actor.

an awsome zombie movie for a remake

A remake of the 60s film that introduced movie fans to two things that would change horror, The flesh eating ghouls and George Romero. This film did a good job of following its original. I think it did a good job of sticking to the original story and in some spots clarified so...( read more)me things from the first movie. Not as gory as some of Romero's works and remakes, but still did a good job of frightening the viewer, and in my opinion a very good piece that left you glancing over your shoulder and swallowing hard as peeking through the curtain into the night.

I haven't seen this remake of Night of the Living Dead since it came out in theaters almost 20 years ago & I thought it sucked. Well I have watched a lot of horror flix over the years & have a lot of respect for the original NOTLD & as well as Tom Savini's work. On paper this r...( read more)emake is almost a fan boys wet dream but Savini is terribly restrained in his big screen debut directing & is nothing but boring & rewrites it enough that all of the power of the original is lost
