wow i have just seen this movie 4 the 1st time n think that this is a good movie 2 watch...this is a good kevin costner movie 2 watch,..i think that the director of this Action & Adventure, Mystery & Suspense, Drama movie had done a really good job of directing this movie because you never know what 2 expect throughout this movie...its a really good thriller movie...i think that gene hackman is great throughout this movie....
This was the first Kevin Costner movie I ever saw and I had a big crush on him because of this movie. Unfortunately, it is the best movie he has done and, as far as I am concerned, he went downhill from there.
Kevin Costner and Sean Young have great chemistry in this thriller with Gene Hackman as the Secretary of Defense who accidentally kills his mistress ( Sean Young ) and the subsequent cover up that ensues. Will Patton plays his driven, maniacal assistant who goes to any length to protect his career. Kevin Costner is the naval officer under his charge whom he forces to help and the twist at the end will blow your mind. !!
Costner definitely carries the film. Plot and storyline were a bit obvious but still interesting enough to keep most of my attention. Plus I love the "modern" 80's technology.
A great thriller. The first half hour of the movie made me think that this movie was going to suck, but as the movie proceeded it became better and better. The first half hour was what set the tone for the rest of the movie and introduced the story. I don't know why but the acting at the beginning of the movie had me worried, but afterwards Kevin Costner gave a blazing performance. Will Patton in my opinion gave the best performance in this movie and, from what i have seen, of his career. You will get to hate him and just want to jump in the screen and kick the shit out of him. When an actor achieves this you know that he is giving an amazing performance as a villain. The story is very simple, it's how things unfold that make this movie great and not to mention its cynical ending. This is one thriller that you shouldn't miss!
Washington, D.C. is filled with high profile players with many secrets. In a twist of anger the Secretary of Defense kills his mistress in ire of jealousy. To cover the murder, the Secretary of Defense and his trustworthy aide invent a Russian spy to frame for the murder. The man they hire to lead investigation caught with a burden hardest to bear. He not only knows the woman, he is her lover, and is unbeknownst pinned as the Russian super spy Ivan her killer. I had little faith for No Way Out. A lot of people told me it was predictable and boring. Yet this movie has to be looked at when it was made. To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised with No Way Out. The plot line and superb performances kept me embedded in the movie. Will Patton in my opinion stole the thunder in this movie away from Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman, who are two very good veteran screen presences to compete against. No Way Out is a great spy thrill that keeps you on the edge of your seat. No Way out gets four solid hidden bugs out of five for all around solid movie.
This film is really starting to show its age, but that doesn't deter me from giving it 4.5/5. This film blew me away when I saw it nearly 20 years ago. Most everyone I've shown it to since has felt the same. Some might find it too 80s and much of the cold war references might get lost with younger viewers... still, it's definitely worth a viewing.
No Way Out is a suspense movie set during the cold war.
This is worth your time. I definitely recommend it for fans of military suspense or cold war movies.
I am a huge Kevin Costner fan but I was not bowled over with this one. Sean Young sure is pretty. Gene Hackman played kind of a wimp which I wasn't used to.
I've never been in the situation tell the truth or stay alive and hope I never will be but it sure makes a good story.
Even without the extra twist at the end this film would have made a great story.
No Way Out takes a long time to get going - in many ways it feels like a seventies thriller thats been made in 1987. However, when it does get going, it's a taut, edgy thriller that certainly keeps you at the edge of your seat. Yet, the twist ending is supposed to shock the viewer but I felt the film could have done without it.
NB. What really hurts this film is the terrible score that sounds like it was recorded by a ten year old messing around with a Casio keyboard bought from Argos.
really lacked a point that stuck in the end. I knew there was a twist and guessed it early on but still all the pieces didn't fall into a nice picture.... fragmented attempt in an OK movie. I heard it was a lot better than it really was. It didn't help that the movie was an older one and the direction and dialogue wasn't up to today's standards
When the Secretary of Defense accidently kills his mistress he plans a cover up to blaming another of her lovers but inadvertently puts the man he is searching for in charge of the investigation.
Excellent movie; extremely suspenseful, gripping, and solidly-written, with strong performances. Unfortunately, the final twist, although in tone with the rest of the film, is unsatisfying, unnecessary, and anticlimactic.
Costner vehicle saved from total mediocrity by, yet again, Gene Hackman (he should've belonged to International Rescue the number of dreary Hollywood thrillers he's salvaged...) Decent twist at the end, too.
