Besides being one of Fulci's finest moments, this is also one of the best gialli ever made in Italy. An atypical thriller, located in the warm and sunny rural lands of Southern Italy, which shows how ignorance and superstition can lead to ridiculous prejudices and nonsense acts o...( read more)f violence.
A very impressive, realistic and often provocative film, that leaves you holding your breath till the end. An interesting plot, a gorgeous soundtrack (by Riz Ortolani), some intense scenes and cult actors (Bolkan, Milian, Bouchet, etc.), make this movie a true must see, not only for Fulci fans. See the uncut version, possibly!

While it may not be the best giallo film ever made, Don't Torture a Duckling is indeed Fulci's masterpiece. It is a twisted story ripe with mystery and superstition, where the virtues and vices of each colourful character will literally keep the viewer guessing until the final s...( read more)cene. The subject matter is extremely dark here, and it somehow manages to become even more disturbing as the plot unfolds. But somehow Fulci manages to combine this intriguing mystery with his trademark qualities, injecting Don't Torture a Duckling with its fair share of gore and sleaze without having it descend into exploitation. The result is something refreshing: a gore flick with some taste and a murder-mystery with some gall. Certainly a recommended film.

Very good classic giallo film from Lucio Fulci. So far "Don't Torture a Duckling", in my opinion, is the best Fulci's film that I have seen If you go into this film expecting gore you will be disappointed, this film has very little gore.

One of Fulci's best, a chilling giallo with some incredibly striking scenes of violence.

Fulci reputation lies in his gore soaked films of the 80's but his time spent in the giallo area in the late 60's and 70's is perhaps his finest works. Dont Torture a Duckling is one of the best films on his resume'. A haunting story of a killer prowling on the young is very powe...( read more)rful. And the elment of sleaze is with all giallo films very present. If i recall its Florinda Bolkan who pays a certain price at the hands of angry villagers in one of the most brutal sequences ever. A sequence he visits again at the begininng of The Beyond. Top notch and exellent in all aspects. And the climax is wery painfull to watch!

Best cliff falling scene ever. Not only was it really only like 9 feet, but the guys vertical drop lasted through four minutes of flashback...Booyah! Other than that a pretty good giallo, plus my years of being skeptical of priests finally pays off as I was able to figure out t...( read more)he killer early on, plus i was never raped, so, I have that going for me. I'd recommend this, but, you should probably watch something better. If Fulci then some of his ridiculous horror, if giallo watch Tenebre and save the effort.
