Plot: Feeling unappreciated by his mother and father, an 11-year-old boy finds a lawyer, declares himself a "free agent" and searches the world for the "perfect" parents.
North, a perfect boy disenchanted with his uncaring parents (Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus). He seeks a "divorce" from them and travels the world in search of better parents. It is quite a likeable film, even if it is probably the slightest Reiner has made. Reiner launches into with an appealingly surreal visual sense. The world tour he takes us on crafts a kind of fabulist adventure out of amusingly exaggerated versions of national images ? in Texas everything is bigger with stretch-limos the size of railway carriages; in Paris every tv channel North flips to is showing Jerry Lewis movies; and most amusingly of all is the trip to Alaska where the igloos have picket fences and mailboxes carved out of ice, where people mow snow lawns, and the igloo interiors have fireplaces and lift-up fishing holes in the floor surrounded by armchairs.
Some what a weird movie. But it was cute. I think if kids have that right we all be changing, but we all would want to got back to were real mother and father.
It's sad for me to admit but I never had a problem with this movie. Critics consider it one of the worse movies ever made. I think it's pretty harmless though and original. Hell I wouldn't even mind watching it right now lol.
this movie was pretty good considering what it ws. the plot wasnt crash hot but it was still enjoyable
·Ever adorable Elijah Wood is the best thing about this crazy movie about looking for surrogate parents to replace seeminlgy negligent ones at home. Worth watching just for Elijah and nutty Bruce Willis.
Why I enjoy this movie, I really don't know. But I do. I really like this freakin' movie. Crazy. Maybe it's Bruce Willis, the surreal nature of it, and Elijah Wood being tough to the villian kid at the end. Hm.
North is a pretty good movie even though it's very unrealistic you don't need to take this movie seriously. It's funny and entertaining Elijah Wood and Bruce Willis make this a really good movie. See North (Elijah Wood) travel around the world to find good parents with Bruce Willis playing different people a long the way. But will he stick with his original parents or go with another to check the answer see the movie.
_North_ is hands-down one of the funniest books I've ever read (that downed hand is holding hands with Paul Feig's _Kick Me_). Roger Ebert's review of this movie version included: "I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it." Yes, it's silly and doesn't make sense all of the time, but I (unlike Mr. Ebert) still really liked it--even though I prefer the book.
I was so young when I saw that movie.. and I was so confused of that easter bunny.. I had no clue what's his rule.. now that I know better wish to see this movie again =D
Elijah was soo adorable as usual
Had this film on video when I was really young but never really enjoyed it that much. If I never enjoyed it much back then, then I guess i'm not going to enjoy it much now.
It's been a while since of seen this movie, but it's a brilliant example o f Elijah Wood's incredible talent even as a child. Very funny, too.
What a dumb kid - runs away from his parents and scours the world for new ones, only to realise that he wants the old ones back.
if you'd like to choose your parents...it can look like this! It's fun to see Elijah Wood when he was younger.
Rob Reiner's only blemish in his first dozen years as director. Not a horrible film-- it's not without its funny moments and cameos-- just very hit and miss, inevitable when dealing with such an distincly odd central concept.
Let's put it this way: Any movie with Jason Alexander can't be taken seriously. His presence in any project is tantamount to the kiss of death.
What an adorable movie, I've seen it so many times now! Plus, Bruce Willis is just as amazing as Elijah Wood! <3
Very funny and full of many familiar faces. Every actor/actress contributed to make it very funny! I want to buy it!
First if you are an Elijah Wood fan, you'll love this movie, if you're not, you just might be after you watch this. He's hunting for new parents and it's got a lot of heart and humor to it.
Hilarious at first, but after making a bunch of funny (if sit-com-ish) jabs at American life and amusing gags in general, it doesn't know where to go, and veers off into a bizarre, almost-but-not-quite thriller-ish plot that stops the movie in its tracks, and is only made worse by a horrendous ending. Still, not nearly as bad as it's made out to be.
cheeese.. amuses me. Bruce Willis is a ledge! "The bird in hand is always greener than the grass under the other guys bushes!"
early film from elijah wood...really sweet film..good fun story kids will enjoy...also stars bruce wilis as a kind of guardian angel...really gd fun
