    OK quasi kids movie.

North, a perfect boy disenchanted with his uncaring parents (Jason Alexander and Julia Louis-Dreyfus). He seeks a "divorce" from them and travels the world in search of better parents. It is quite a likeable film, even if it is probably the slightest Reiner has made. Reiner launc...( read more)hes into with an appealingly surreal visual sense. The world tour he takes us on crafts a kind of fabulist adventure out of amusingly exaggerated versions of national images ? in Texas everything is bigger with stretch-limos the size of railway carriages; in Paris every tv channel North flips to is showing Jerry Lewis movies; and most amusingly of all is the trip to Alaska where the igloos have picket fences and mailboxes carved out of ice, where people mow snow lawns, and the igloo interiors have fireplaces and lift-up fishing holes in the floor surrounded by armchairs.

This is so silly and goofy, and the humor really worked. Some of the families that North finds himself with... lol... This is in the end a sweet movie with a lighthearted feel to it, with a happy ending that takes us on a fun ride to get to.

I like the premise but the results are so blah and ingenuine.

This was cute and fun until the end. What a terrible ending.

At the time of its release, Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel considered this to be the worst film they'd ever seen. Ebert wrote, "I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it." The pair later reviewed it on their television show, where Ebert went on to say that the movie made him "cringe... just sitting here thinking about it." Gene Siskel characterized it as "junk" and said that it made him feel "unclean." The clip of their review would go on to become a popular internet meme associated with bad movie reviews.

Neglected "perfect son" Elijah Wood decides to become a free agent and trade in his parents for a more attentive couple, in this unsatisfying adaptation of Alan Zweibel's fanciful novel. Only Bruce Willis lends charm, as an unusual guardian angel.
