This movie is the bomb!! No, it's not the Patrick Swayze civil war movie. Its a BBC adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's book. Friends, rush out and rent this movie-- It is real life and love. Melancholy and wonderful.

This movie is absolutely amazing!!! It has a great story line and is very well done. I want to read the book now, because the show was so good. This is definitely in my top five movies!

i wish i could give more than 5 stars.
adapted from elizabeth gaskells love story.
what a great mini series. its such a nice simple tale which shows the truth about the 19th century life in the mills.
its concentrated on a woman who has moved up north with her mother and father through having less money. lots happens in it making it interesting and worth while.
the cast are amazing and lovely to watch, you'll love every character especially thorton played by richard armitagewho is gorgeous, but also a great actor, good at drama.
its such a nice story with its upsetting moments of course but its an uplifting tale and very romantic i think.
its worth seeing. -

WOW. Outstanding! I spent the entire time swooning. I loved this so much. I love the historical detail. I love Richard Armitage! I think I enjoyed this better than "Pride and Prejudice." It's a tough call. They are both absurdly amazing.

MCT:June 4, 2008I really enjoyed this movie. It is such a timeless romance and so passionate. The only problem I have is that it ended so abruptly. I would have loved to see Thornton and Margaret marry and what not. It also needed a better explanation of their feelings at the end (like why was Thornton so happy at the station all of a sudden?) It was a great movie, except for the short ending

awww... It's amazing belive me.. a wonderful love story with the prescence and charm of Mr Richard Armitage as Mr Thorthon and the scenes and drama between cotton balls are beautiful

I THINK I LOVE THIS MOVIE AS MUCH AS HARRY POTTER!!!!!!! THIS IS MY FAVOURITE MOVIE EVER!!!!!!! GREAT STORY, AWESOME CAST AND INCREDIBLE everything else!!!!!!! I could watch this movie a 100000000 times and NEVER get bored!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love love love love love it. Think I can say it anymore? I love Jane Eyre and all the Austen's, but I thought I should branch out and thanks to IMDB message boards I found this and loved it. Very clean, good love story, sigh. Need to go watch it again....

This movie is extremely good and worth the time it takes to watch. All of the actors' performances were fantastic and the historical content extremely interesting...I recommend curling up with the DVD, a friend, and a sleeping bag!

Once again the BBC has done it. I decided to watch this movie on a whim, and I am very glad that I did. If you havn't watched it, you should because it is an amazing production. The themes within it are very contemporary and the acting is amazing. The chemistry and sexual tension between Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe is wonderful.

I just got my hands on a copy from my university library. I am so excited to read it. I have seen the movie 3 times, but now I am going to read it...YEAH!!!

i love it!!! North & South has drama, love, mystery and more! Makes for a good read as well if you can get hold of the book.
