Feel-good movie about a disfunctional family and how they come together (despite their wishes) to celebrate the Christmas holidays. Each member of the family comes with a story and a burden, and all their stories intertwine in a heart-warming and sweet movie.
Nothing original, a...( read more) -

I was totally looking forward to this just to be dissapointed. It was slow and mostly not funny at all. It only had a few moments and you figure that this movie was suppossed to be about a Puerto Rican Family and they couldn't find any ethnic actors? Reminds me of the old days wh...( read more)

Wow. I didn't think I was going to like this movie, and although it's no Christmas classic, it was really good. Even with the family turmoil it came across as a positive type of movie. I never knew there were so many notable hispanic actors, and they put almost all of my favorite...( read more)

I enjoyed this movie, good holiday movie - however I feel that they tried to change family stone into a latino movie.

You have to be Latino to appreciate this film. If you're not, you just won't get it. Lots of great Latino talent and a great storyline. A typical Latino family!

Decent enough movie. Problem is, the trailers for this movie were really misleading. It seemed like it was going to be much more about Debra Messing's character and how out-of-place she would've been among her husband's Puerto Rican family. That's not the movie it was at all, ...( read more)
Critic Reviews
'God is punishing me,' says the matriarch. Not just you. full review
The movie's not really interested in originality, though. Instead, it wants to wrap the old seasonal homilies in the warm specifics of time and place and ethnicity. At that, it succeeds. full review
Familiarity is part of the pleasure of holiday movies, and Nothing Like the Holidays gets by not on originality, but on chemistry and warmhearted charm. full review
Ay Caramba, the holiday season can be difficult enough, but think how much worse it would be if you lived in a family full of movie stereotypes? full review
To a necessary degree the screenplay by Alison Swan and Rick Najera follows familiar formulas. But then the dialogue, the specifics, and the acting take charge, and the movie becomes funny, sad, corny... full review
A solid Christmas-themed dysfunctional family drama is enlivened by its superior cast of fine Latino stars. full review
Nothing Like the Holidays may be less repulsive than The Family Stone, but that's simply because it wields its strikingly similar story with slightly more subtlety. full review

December 21, 2008Definitivamente la cultura boricua jamas se pierde por mas que lo intentes, estes o no estes en tu pais, tu patria, la cultura es lo mas que se queda contigo y en la unidad familiar. I needed to express this in spanish cause Im puertorrican and I enjoy this movies most than my amercian friends, cause they dont realy know the meaning of christmas, that is the joy, the family, the parranda, the good food, and oviosuly, the day Jesus was born, not Santa Claus, cause he was San Nicolas/Nick. Anyway, adoro estos actores, my father met Alfred and Leguizamo on does HOLA AWARDS for Latins at NY, and they are very hilarious persons, adn realy nice guys. Love this movie and hope Puerto Rico gets more respect, its not boring, is amazing! And if u say its boring, is cause u dont know a shit about us! LEARN CULTURE PEOPLE! PUERTO RICO EXIST!
