Antonia returns to the island to help find her loved one, and is suddenly immersed in the stern, patriarchal culture she abandoned long ago. Antonia is also reintroduced to Ettore, who was her lover before she went away; while she still has feelings for him, she's also drawn to Alexander, a charming man who cannot speak. Will Antonia's romantic ambitions lure her away from her familial obligations, and is she willing to return to an often violent world where she is treated as a second-class citizen?
