  I remember seeing the debut of this on the SyFy channel back when it had the less gay Sci-Fi Schannel logo. I think (but I'm not sure) that this and Crocodile were the first two Sci-Fi original features and I remember watching them back to back. This was before the days of On Demnad, DVR's and Netflix, so basically you were stuck with what was on live TV at that moment. Big monsters eating people is a usual go-to for me if all else fails. For a monster movie about a giant pre-historic Octopus there's a lot going on here. A criminal terrorist on the loose, an estranged love affair with the captain and his ex-wife all wrapped in a submarine that has drifted off course and is being attacked by the giant behemoth. This movie has one of the better scripts I think a made for TV creature feature has ever had and it makes up for a lot of what Octopus is lacking. It certainly doesn't suck and it's miles ahead of current SyFy garbage on TV today.
