Octopussy Reviews and Ratings

It was a good James Bond film but not my favourite. Not my least favourite though either my least favourite is Quantum of Solace.

The story in this one was a bit slow it wasn't as Interesting as the others.Don't get me wrong it was good but I do perfer Live and Let die, casino r...( read more)oyale and The man with the golden gun better.

This one as a good police chase but it doesn't beet the chases in the other James Bonds it didn't last that long the chase in this one.
The acting however, was done just as good and it hardly suffered. The acting is well delivered that should make the James Bond audience happy..

Like I said this isn't the best of the James Bonds the story gets quite slow compared to the others the action isn't as good and the police scenes just do not last long enough. This still isn't a bad James Bond but it could of been better.

    Worth a watch though.

Gets a bad rap but definitely ranks among the best of the '80s Bonds with plenty of action, intrigue, and a breathless bomb-on-a-train scenario.

    the Excellent movie to watch
  • October 23, 2009
    an unexpectedly good Bond
  • October 14, 2009
Roger Moore's best 007 movie and certainly the best-named Bond flick. But also the most misleading movie title in cinematic history. A first-time viewer might think this as a porno.

This film made me blush in front of my mum when all the ladies had not many clothes on and Bond saves the day dressed as a clown.
  • September 8, 2009
    Entertaining Moore cheese
  • July 29, 2009
    The worst bond film.
  • July 28, 2009
Engaging enough, but nothing terribly special.

One of the better Bond films from Roger Moore (his best being his first without a doubt). Great action sets including the excellent opening sequence with the mini-jet. Locations are some of the best in the series and do fit in with the story.
I think one of the highligh...( read more)ts with Octopussy is that the humour is played down to a minimum here, a few gags are let off though like Bond yelling like Tarzan as he swings from tree to tree!
There are some genuine moments of suspense in this film which is all but gone in previous films, such as 007 disarming a nuclear bomb in front of thousands of circus goers.
One of my favourites Roger Moore films as Bond: funny script in part, good cast. The only weak part i thought was the theme tune.

    (No. 13)
An eerie opening with 009 promises high hopes for this next 007 adventure, however, not even exotic India, a phenomenal fist fight atop a twin-engine plane, and some very cool acrobatics can save the story which spirals rapidly downwards around midpoint. Director Glen at...( read more)tempts to target young audiences through adolescent humor and silly situations in which our once debonair agent is made to look like a clumsy fool; not only does Bond don a gorilla suit, but he's teased by a bunch of precocious teens as he tries to (get this) hitchhike. And if that weren't bad enough, he ends up running around dressed like a clown. Having said that, it's refreshingly different to have a female king-pin in the sexy Octopussy (Adams), but her right hand girl, Magda (Wayborn,) takes the icy-coolness act a bit too far. The final straw, however, are Bond and Q arriving 'covertly' in a hotair balloon featuring a massive Union Jack - it seems that the filmmakers forgot about the 'secret' in secret agent. With plots like that, no wonder Moore's beginning to show his age.

maud adams makes her second aperance as a bond girl and show why she was one of the hottest women of the 70's

Can't say I really even remember this movie even though I have seen many times. But I like the Bond character so it can't be two bad.
  • April 2, 2009
Roger Moore's second best film. Keenly aware not to take itself too seriously as of For Your Eyes Only, with a good deal of tongue-in-cheek humour to be had, Octopussy still holds up well today with some impressive action sequences, one particular, on Octopussy's Circus train.

Stephen Berkof is one that stands out as an interesting actor in this film who plays a rather captivating and compelling maniacal villain.

Louis Jourdan gives a quiet and reserved craftiness to his character, and is quite suitable for his performance as a villian.

It's one of those Bonds that's a little bit different, and memorable, especially for it's title.

007 and Roger Moore are forever!
  • March 11, 2009
Better than Moore's previous two outings as Bond, but not by much; it is saved by a knowing sense of humour which was previously lacking.
  • March 9, 2009
Why do we love Roger Moore as 007? Not only can he look good while saving the world, he also got some of the best lines in the Bond movies, infuriating to the bad guys and near provocative to the ladies... you couldnt help but laugh and say "Only Bond can say that and get away wi...( read more)th it..."

The title of this movie is provocative enough... hehehe. But that doesnt take the shine of the thrills of the classic Bond series... the trademark action scenes and Bond style is evident by veteran director John Glen, responsible for 5 007 flicks and credited on 3 more.

Guns, knives, beautiful women by the dozens and veteran International star Kabir Bedy as the ruthless henchman Gobina. Cars, planes, the entire movie is a classic Bond fest. Enjoy.

Roger's a little long in the tooth here, but this one still has it's moments. Unfortunately not buying the action and sex though.
  • December 30, 2008
a decent roger moore bond movie although at this point he was starting to look too old for the part of bond.
  • December 28, 2008
Octopussy is the penultimate movie in the Roger Moore era of James Bond movies, and is the best of the actor's seven movies in the role. It is based on a short story by Ian Fleming, but the only similarity is the title. Nonetheless, it is still a very ...( read more)well-made, entertaining and action-packed entry, made all the more so by the fact that the action sequences and stunts were filmed for real without the benefit of computer generated technology. The movie is a real globe-trotting affair. It features at least three extraordinary action moments, including the awesome pre-credit plane sequence, a Tarzan-style jungle manhunt and the most jaw-dropping fight imaginable in which James Bond tackles a knife-wielding assassin on the outside of a plane flying at 10,000 feet. The theme tune All-Time High is a bitof a soppy power ballad and doesn't really belong in this movie. In terms of James Bond girls, they've unearthed a stunner in Kristina Wayborn as the unpredictable temptress Magda, and Maud Adams has the distinction of being the only actress to play two different James Bond girls in two different James Bond movies. Octopussy might be far-fetched and totally dissimilar to its source material, but it still a grandly entertaining affair.

It was OK. the throwing knives from the twins made bond historry
  • December 16, 2008
One of moore's worst. The opening action sequence was cool but everything else just seemed lame.

Roger Moore got his AARP card in this one and it shows. The story takes 007 from looking into stolen Russian artwork to a plot to start World War III in a tale that is a little difficult to process at times. Maud Adams returns as the title character with Louis Jordan playing the ...( read more)main baddie. It's an OK little adventure but tends to drag as the film goes on. One of the worst Bond/Moore flicks in the series, the whole thing looks terrible with dodgy stunts, bad sets and unconvincing fights and acting. Octopussy was quite an exciting James Bond film, the ending was very well done and most of the scenes were exciting to watch.
