Odd Girl Out

Alexa Vega, Alicia Morton, Ann Mahoney, Anne Ewen, Dr. Melissa Caudle

Bullies don't have to be big, tough boys. In fact, often, they're not boys at all. Based on Rachel Simmons's best-selling book examining the culture of female aggression, this Lifetime original movie ...( read more  read more... )follows a put-upon middle schooler (Alexa Vega, of Spy Kids) who struggles to dodge blows from her backstabbing peers. The fact that the abuse is emotional and not physical doesn't make it any less painful.

I had to watch this for a class. Overall it was pretty enjoyable for a made for TV Lifetime movie. I felt that it was pretty predictable as far as these types of movies run but I think that parents should see it so they can see what their children might be going through.

tv movie? this should've got stuck in the cinema coz it might've been appreciated by a wider audience, but i guess it aint as accessable ratings-wise as a half arsed action movie packed with stars. very good film about the subject of bullying. there's some cliches in there that a...( read more)re untrue to the reality of it but what do ya expect? it's a bloody decent effort though. it was pretty well acted by alexa vega & lisa vidal, especially in those highly emotional parts. even leah pipes and elizabeth rice played their really sadistic roles well. well the character of nikki was sadistic. the character of stacey was insecure and arrogant

Odd Girl Out is probably one to of the most realistic movies made-for-teens\pre-teens out there. I have seen She's Too Young, Mean Girls, etc, but this is the best. The acting is decent, and the director and writer do a good job of spacing out and escalating the bullying that the...( read more) girl endures. I thought it was also good how the main character, as she keeps getting bullied, continues to try to find a way back into her crowd. Because, it's realistic. People put up with all kinds of crap to get accepted into a clique. And, the mom's performance was solid too. Alexa Vega is amazing in this movie, it was all very real and true to me. Leah Pipes and Elizabeth Rice played excellent bad girls. I thought this movie was fantastic and it really sends a message to everyone that you need to treat others the way you want to be treated.

Odd Girl Out is a captivating story about fitting in and being bullied in the most brutal ways possible.
It's about losing friends but also about realising which people who are really meant for you. It's also about a mother who does everything to save her daughter's life but sti...( read more)ll has a hard time understanding until it's all put just in front of you.
This is a movie that will make you cry so much so there won't be any tears left to cry out in the end. It's easy to relate to but still painful to watch.
It will stay with you for an eternity and forever remind you just who you are and how much you're prepared to fight for friendship and change yourself so the people who aren't at all worth it can laugh even more.
I've never seen a movie quite like it, but nevertheless it's a beautiful story about the transition from weak to strong in a nanosecond.

    I hate bullies!

Odd Girl Out is the story of Vanessa whose so-called best friends turn on her and make her life a living hell. This movie shows teenage girls just how quickly your friends can turn on you if they get jealous or if the boy they fancy fancies you.

I used to ...( read more)be a teenage girl (lol obviously because i am now female and 32),i have a 15 year old daughter and i have previously worked in schools and i found Odd Girl Out to be one of the most realistic movies i have ever seen and to anyone who found this movie OTT or unrealistic then thats great because it means you have never been bullied or humiliated in the way that Vanessa the lead character in this movie was.

The acting was superb, each actor played their character well and the movie gets your emotions going,i felt sad, sympathetic, angry and glad whilst watching it and many other emotions that many other dramatic movies fail to stir up in me. The bullies/bitches in this movie were utterly vile, disgusting horrible pathetic gutless creatures.

    For fans of Speak.
