I was hoping I'd discovered a forgotten gem. Wellers is great, but the rat scenes unhinge the viewer through their sloppy direction.
I loved this movie and feel it a must see no matter what genre you are into. On the surface this is your basic man versus beast tale but with a twist on the theme I have never seen. On a deeper level the movie dives into the main characters head an allows you to share his fears, anger, and triumph.
It's "Moby Dick" but with a rat instead of a whale. It is also not scary at all. I'm not saying that you won't enjoy it but it isn't a horror film. I could leniently say it is a "horror spoof" but that would be to do the genre and this film a disservice. Peter Weller does a great job as he gets more and more obsessed but some bits are too silly.
Probably one of the best rat movies. If you've ever had a rat in your apartment you know how nerve-wracking it can be. The ending is really weak though.
Peter Weller (Robocop to you and me) versus a big rat that's moved into his nice apartment. It's a cool, effective little movie.
