For whatever reason, these Jack Ketchum adaptations never gel for me. This one has moments, but still fails to build suspense. The cast is game.

Not completely without it's merits, but most of them are buried below a sea of shit. I like Jack Ketchum, his stories do have an extra something. The script is let down by some poor acting and hilariously awkward moments that just don't fit. You can set up a character as a slimeball without such a heavy handed pervert/hitchhiker scene. The acting from the offspring/wild people is comic at best. One boy jumps into shot going "Hee hee hee", like some pantomime witch. The gore is done rather well, and there were nice parts, such as the first kill. It made a nice and chilling change to see a scene not played for jumps, but for the awkward silence. Perhaps worth a watch, as it is short.

Issue #1: Offspring is a sequel to author Jack Ketchum's Off Season. Why the sequel first? Rights issues you say? Too friggin bad then wait on that situation to get cleared up before you just say oh well and make the follow-up first.

Issue #1: Offspring is a sequel to author Jack Ketchum's Off Season. Why the sequel first? Rights issues you say? Too friggin bad then wait on that situation to get cleared up before you just say oh well and make the follow-up first.
Issue #2: It's shot on what looks like digital and digital is fine for your home videos but when a movie is shot this way it gives it a look of pure amateurism.
Issue #3: Speaking of amateurism the acting is absolutely atrocious (other than Art Hindle).
Issue #4: The "score" is nothing more than a poor, annoying recreation of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The only things that are passable are the screenplay (written by Ketchum himself) and the gore. Everything else is way under sub par and make even The Lost seem pretty good.

A ruff and ready looking movie with a hills have eyes theme.Gore hounds will love this and the violents is top up a little too.The acting for most parts is just about passible with no a list stars in this.Story is abit thin and could have been a little longer then 78 mins so that they could have expanded on the cannibals story line.Anyway all in all a short and sweet horror movie that do'nt out stay its welcome...

Extremely bloody. Anything involving crazy cannibals killing and torturing innocent people is an instant hit.

This is one movie that is not for the faint of heart. It is a creepy, twisted, blood bath, that holds absolutly nothing back...and that's what makes it awesome! From the creators of the Evil Dead trilogy, and the masters of the modern horror movie, Ghost House Underground. Offspring is everything you could want in a horror movie. Not just blood and gore, but a truly scary story. This movie has it all and I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it! Fans of horror and gore get this movie!

Bad movie with good looking actors, the plot is confusing, dialogues are dumb, actors revising lines on screen, Ketchum has good novels but failed to be adapted

This is a horrible movie on almost any scale, with any measure.. so I don't see how some can give it 3-5 stars. This doesn't compare favorably to anything, in any form. There is no quality here.. from acting, to directing, to effects, to camera work, to production value,… More

There is no quality here.. from acting, to directing, to effects, to camera work, to production value, to script .. it's all crap..
This isn't an issue of me not being able to handle "gore" or "gross movies".. I thought The Hills Have Eyes was awesome.. Descent is gory in it's own right and far better.. I've seen 100s of horror movies with equal or more gore and never held it against them.. the gore and "shock" moments of this movie aren't even gross.. they're mind numbingly cartoonish.. there is no redeeming value of watching this movie -- it's not even laughable.. it's just sad.
There are literally 1000s of movies out there that are better in every way.. and other than maybe one or two sparks, this is a complete and utter waste of time.
** I'd actually warn against those coming back to see this movie in anticipation of seeing "The Woman".. which is apparently the 'sequel' and has garnered a lot of press and controversy after a film festival showing led to walk outs. I expect - given it's directed by Lucky McKee (The Woods, Masters of Horror-Sick Girl, May) who is a competent director - that will be a more capable movie with proper direction and a completely different, non-amateurish, vibe..

I hope sequel surpasses this bad movie which has riidiculous primitive costumes, bad directing and pacing, bad story, ect... ect... ect...
There are a couple of good death but they worth not the checking running time.
