This is a horrible movie on almost any scale, with any measure.. so I don't see how some can give it 3-5 stars. This doesn't compare favorably to anything, in any form. There is no quality here.. from acting, to directing, to effects, to camera work, to production value, to script .. it's all crap..
This isn't an issue of me not being able to handle "gore" or "gross movies".. I thought The Hills Have Eyes was awesome.. Descent is gory in it's own right and far better.. I've seen 100s of horror movies with equal or more gore and never held it against them.. the gore and "shock" moments of this movie aren't even gross.. they're mind numbingly cartoonish.. there is no redeeming value of watching this movie -- it's not even laughable.. it's just sad.
There are literally 1000s of movies out there that are better in every way.. and other than maybe one or two sparks, this is a complete and utter waste of time.
** I'd actually warn against those coming back to see this movie in anticipation of seeing "The Woman".. which is apparently the 'sequel' and has garnered a lot of press and controversy after a film festival showing led to walk outs. I expect - given it's directed by Lucky McKee (The Woods, Masters of Horror-Sick Girl, May) who is a competent director - that will be a more capable movie with proper direction and a completely different, non-amateurish, vibe..
