Critic Reviews

  • Phil Hall, IdentityTheory

Despite its numerous faults, it succeeds as a Streisand showcase

  • Emanuel Levy, EmanuelLevy.Com

Though one of Minnelli's weaker films, this Alan J. Lerner's musical, which bears thematic resemblance to Minnelli's Gigi and Cukor's My Fair Lady, is worth seeing for Streisand's performance.

  • Michael E. Grost, Classic Film and Television

Visually rich Minnelli musical - a delight.

  • Steve Crum, Kansas City Kansan

Streisand shines in otherwise dull musical.

The only reason I saw this movie was because I thought Jack Nicholson was in it, but he just has a very small role. Streisand is the star and she just keeps singing, I didn't even understand what the story was about. I was too bored to care anyway.
