)inated for an Academy Award in 1972 as Best Documentary. In this look back at the phenomenon of On Any Sunday, Brown's son Dana interviews racers who appeared in the original movie as well as people who fondly recall watching the film over and over during its theatrical run. The elder Brown, with his trademark understated sense of humor, talks about the eccentric characters who became involved in the film, including movie star and biker Steve McQueen, who helped provide financial backing. Outtakes from the original documentary are shown, including some unused scenes featuring the legendary "helmet-cam," a clumsy device that provided spectacular footage even if the racer wearing it on his head looked ridiculous. Several of the racers profiled in the original film have remained friends with Brown over the years, and scenes at a reunion show that the camaraderie forged on the cycle tracks 30 years ago still survives. Anyone who remembers the thrill of watching On Any Sunday will find this nostalgic return enormously entertaining. --Robert J. McNamara
