Black brought along a camera to record the trip for posterity, and On the Bus is a documentary that chronicles the misadventures of Black and his traveling companions on the road, among them Charles, a former exotic dancer who now waits tables while he tries to get his acting career off the ground, and Jason, a former Midwesterner who now makes his living as a porn star. On the Bus was initially commissioned as a multi-part reality series for the Digital Entertainment Network, an online film and video site; when DEN went out of business, Black reshaped his footage into its current form as a feature-length documentary.
