Not nearly as good as I thought or hoped it would be.
This movie completely blew me away. Its simple and sweet, optimistic and charming. Personally, I love musicals and movies like this with lots of music in them; So, i was kind of hooked from the start. That is really all there is to it. Once is not complicated in any way. Its a bi...( read more)
Very small, very cute, with fantastic music and a very un-Hollywood feel to it. I liked it, but unfortunately wasn't as amazed as I excpected. It is warm though, it's got a real, true, genuine warmth to it that completely melted my heart in a couple of scenes.
The movie won an Oscar for Best Original Song or something, beating Enchanted (which I totally love!!). No doubt the songs lived up to my expectation. :) LOVE EVERY SINGLE SONG IN THE SOUNDTRACK. :)
They both rocked. :)
(OK. The plot is kinda dry but the music make it up. )
Anyone who didn't know about this film and saw it would absolutely believe it's a documentary. There's no other film in Hollywood that's quite like this, with the same charm and ease and chemistry. Such a treat.
"Falling Slowly" is fantastic song. FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC. The rest of the music is good too. Other than that I'm not sure there was much of a script.
Beautiful movie. The performances from the 2 leads are so truthful and honest that you feel the impact of their amazing songs full on.
Its predominant simplicity makes it a very special modern gem with a solid screenplay and an "anti-Hollywood" ending. This suddenly felt like a porn film: you no longer care about the plot, but you keep waiting for the song scenes to start. That means it has a beautiful soundtrac...( read more)
At first I was a bit bored, but the touching music and sincerity of the characters drew me into their dream-like world.
A nice story very well told - they didn't try to get clever, there's no ridiculous twists, & none of the essential cliches are even annoying! A little too heavy on the music for me, but I'm not a fan of musicals.
John Carney's film is winsome yet sometimes profane, heartwarming yet bittersweet; the tiny Irish musical that could. The "plot" is simplicity itself: The "Guy" (Glen Hansard of the Frames) meets the "Girl" (Czech immigrant Marketa Irglova) and they make beautiful music together....( read more)
Absolutely loved it. The music is fantastic and the story is soo sweet.
This movie was very beautiful, but also very sad. I just loved the music and the whole story is beautiful. It was very hard not to cry when watching this. I couldn't get over the end how they just couldn't stay together. I mean I know they fell in love the couple even admitted it...( read more)
really love the music Falling slowly. absolutely touched my heart
a simple and clean movie that leaves u thoughts and emotions resting in your heart, a realistic and beautiful love story
ONCE
What a good. Simply cool picture.
Using a director friend (John Carney) he used to play music with and a skeleton crew with a megre budget, they make a great musical/doco/feature film that has extravergentile tastes in quality and household entertainment.

Me apaixonei pelo filme, pela trilha, pelos atores e por Dublin. O roteiro é bobo, mas se torna memorável pelo fato de como os personagens nos guia por ele. Tudo nele parece real, com sentimentos de verdade que afloram através da música. Algumas cenas são mágicas, principalmente ...( read more)
very inspiring music but everything else was bad. boring story, cold actors, no plot, shaking camera... just listen to the soundtrack instead
glen & marketa are wonderfully talented and adorable together and i wish they were still together wahhhh :(
A very simple and original modern musical. The music is very soothing and despite begin a musical the story remains completely real.
A person should be paid whio watches this movie and finishes it before falling to sleep.
I loved this movie, i didnt want it 2 end. Great story and music. beautiful soul 2 it aswell.
Finally, a good movie! Well, after watching piles of mediocre to bad movies this past week, Once broke the curse.
This film was really interesting. It's even more interesting to find out that the lead actors are the ones who wrote all this wonderful music. The songs were real...( read more)
One of the best films to come out of Ireland. Thats not to say it's excellent or anything but it did strike a chord.
thank u rian, for bringing this wonderful movies into my life. simple story yet uncommon, beautiful songs and lyrics.
This film could have easily been a corny run of the mill boy meets girl outing in Cameron Crowe territory, but luckily it's put together by talented young people bored with conventional relationship fair.
Director John Carney's craft on the film is appropriately Dogme at times ...( read more)
Very sweet (and I use the word sparingly, trust me on that...), completely unorthodox musical that I enjoyed very much. No fancy special effects or exciting camera angles, just a brilliant script, excellent songs, and two fresh performances from the leads, helped by a very authen...( read more)
Brilliant
Such a movie story that is so real and true. It doesnt try to be anything that it isnt. It takes you on this journey that moves you with music and a hidden love. Fantastic.
Loved everything about this! Made me want stand up and sing at the top of my lungs!
It goes to show that you don't need alot of money, special effects, or big name celebrities to make an amazing movie. Perfect in every way!
