Shawn's comments - Great performances all around. One of the best endings of any film.

Katie's comments - A good movie albeit a bit dated in terms of pacing and dialogue/story. Jack Nicholson plays himself in a mental institution but is supported by a wonderf...( read more)ully rich and heart wrenching cast of characters. Definitely want to read the book. I never thought I'd root for someone to break a window so much.

There are no obvious (or even minuscule) flaws in Cuckoo's Nest, the film is full of great moments (prepare to watch Randall work the floor for votes to watch a World Series game several times) but be prepared for a break from the standard Hollywood offerings. One Flew Over the C...( read more)uckoo's Nest manages to be very depressing and uplifting at the same time. If you have a soul, you'll both laugh and feel your throat tighten. If you read a synopsis of the movie you'll think it is nothing special, just Jack chewing the scenery, but if you take the time to watch the movie you'll realize you're looking at a cinema classic.

I dont know about you but i couldnt find anything bad in "One flew over the cuckoo's nest".Is that make it perfecto?no if you ask me.But almost perfect.I said to myself before i watched:If i like this movie,i will add Milos Forman to my favourite directors.Cause he directed my fa...( read more)vourite movie,Hair. But still i cant decide.Because i cant find anything different in his directing.I love his movies:Amadeus,Hair and this one...But their script makes them great movies.Only cause that i didnt give this 5 stars is the Camera.Camera could be different.I didnt say better.I said different.?f we could mix Mike Nichols and Milos Forman,we would have the greatest director in the world. But lets talk about acting too.
Oscar is deserved by Jack Nicholson. But i didnt understand about Louise Fletcher. But she cant be better at that role. And other than leadings i loved all the supporting roles' acting.Danny Devito,Brad Dourif and Chewski (dont know his real name) was really good.
Anyway we dont have make this longer.surprising finale, great acting and script. It is an almost perfect movie. But absolutely a must watch for everyone.

This movie has been sitting on my desk for the past 5 months.Forgive me, ive been waiting for the right opportunity to watch it and finally i have done just that. What can i say,i now know why this movie has been critically acclaimed and has been homaged so many times.Jack plays t...( read more)he loveable RP Murphy, the criminal lowlife sent to a mental institution in order to avoid time in the big pen.Along the way he meets an aray of troubled characters as he tries and liberates them from the oppressive Nurse Ratched.Every character is developed along the way which is this movies strongest trait.Excellent preformances although the plot gets a little tedius around the halfway mark which is then rescued just in time.Plus the end is probably the most fitting end in any movie ive ever seen.

Oscars went to Nicholson, Louise Fletcher as castrating Nurse Ratched, producer Michael Douglas and Milos Forman's unblinking direction. "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" presents the idea that madness is really sanity -- or "Much madness is divinest sense, to a discerning eye," as Emily Dickinson would put it. Is it that society fears the ideas and practices of the "insane" so we inhibit them from their true pote...( read more)ntial by locking them away in these asylums? Have we been so consumed by the desire to control that we must lock them away? "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" shouts these questions. And the most compelling aspect is the personification of society and control -- the vivid Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher, in her most legendary performance). Nurse Ratched stares through the camera and breaks the barrier of screen, frightening the viewer as to what corruption power causes. Ratched is doubly frightening as Hannibal Lecter, and triple as frightening as Darth Vader. Who would have though a little nurse could be so intimidating? And the best part is that it is completley believable. Fletcher challenges us to hate her, and when I first watched the film I did -- but then I loved her. How Fletcher creates such a monster, so deliciously sinister and cold. Absolutely breathtaking.
