The wonderful comedian, John Candy is funny in this film; Only the Lonely with Ally Sheedy and Maureen O'Hara.
Candy plays a cop that lives at home with his very domineering mother (O'Hara). When he meets a quiet lady working at a funeral parlor (Sheedy) he is smitten and starts to see her. Plenty of laughs happen when the three are at each others throat....is there enough room for both ladies in his life?
This is a nicely made and funny comedy that features great performances. John Candy, Maureen O'Hara, Ally Sheedy and the supporting cast are all great in their roles and script is well written.
John Candy shows his ability to play a romantic lead with pure pathos in this lovely little romance.
Very charming and cute story of a man who finds love, eventhough his mother controls his life. He learns to let his mom go and follow his heart.
Not a bad outing with John Candy starring as a middle-aged cop still living at home who falls for mortician Ally Sheedy. Kind of an off-beat comedy and a fair outing for both Candy and Sheedy.
Sometimes it's good to be a cop, and sometimes it's good to be John Candy. They don't do films like this anymore
A touching movie of a mother, her son and his new girlfriend. John Candy, known for his comic timing shows his dramatic side.
This is sentimental comedy from Home Alone director Chris Columbus shows John Candy to be a surprisingly good actor as a lonely cop falls in love with Ally Sheedy. The only problem is, he's still living with his mother.
I laughed a lot in this movie. Maureen O'Hara one of the best actress' ever and John Candy...such a lovable mommas boy in this movie, will he break-away from her old country Irish apron strings for Ally Sheedy or not? Or will it take Anthony Quinn who looks fantastic!
I thought this one was cute and it's got Maureen O'Hara who is one of my favourite actresses of all time.
One of John Candy's later films, this romantic drama sees the larger-than-life character actor without the bubbly sense of humour that made him so great.
Worth watching if just for the sake of watching Maureen O'Hara. The story itself is not too bad, but unoriginal.
This was one of John Candy's best movies!
An endearing romantic comedy, no matter what anyone else says! ^_~
Look, it's a mediocre John Candy movie. Oh, you already knew it was mediocre because John Candy was in it? My bad.
