Sara's mother Amy must contend with her aqua-phobia as well as the group's increasing desperation, as the friends begin to turn on each other. Soon the exhaustion of keeping afloat and the struggle to get back on board begin to take a terrible toll. The happy reunion turns into a fight for survival.

It?s not really open water 2, the production company only said it was because Open water was really good and this is shit. It?s a huge shame really because It?s such a brilliant, yet simple premise. A half descent writer could have made this film into a classic thriller, shit, I ...( read more)could have, my goldfish could have. I don't actually have a goldfish, but you get what I'm saying.
I wanted them all to die horribly and a lack of sharks was disappointing. Eric Dane is rapidly becoming my least favourite actor of all time. Adrift, annoying, like a crap that refuses to flush!

A rather tiresome film about a group of immensely dislikable, stupid, boring people who just took too long to die. The premise seemed to work in 'Open Water' (I wasn't aware that this film was billed as a sequel?? which doesn't make sense though the similarities are glaringly obv...( read more)ious) and you actually cared about the stranded couple in that efficient little suspenser. But this time around, the characters were so annoying I was only frustrated that I wasn't there to throw rocks at them.

This is not a sequel to Open Water. It is very similar and had the name Open Water stamped on it in the US for commercial reasons. I found Open Water to be fantastic. It was simple, riveting and intense. Adrift fails on most fronts. It becomes infuriating as characters are thick ...( read more)as shit. You've probably already thought of how you would get out of the water. Yet it's the last thing they try. Now I'm all for people acting crazy under extreme circumstances but Adrift goes way too far. Chucking the phone away out of anger? OK. Stabbing friends to stop them harming your boat despite the fact somebody is already critically injured? Ridiculous. It works for some of the time and is beautifully shot. Despite the simple premise it is never boring, but unlike Open Water the danger is far less engaging for anyone with half a brain.

    "I am Jaques Cousteau!"

Adrift is an example of Hollywood studios cashing in on the success of a movie by tagging a completely unrelated film as its sequel. This movie boasts itself as the sequel to the 2004 film Open Water. I liked the 2004 movie, so I

...( read more) decided to give this a shot.

It comes as no shock that the movie was a complete disappointment and marketed as a sequel to get more money.

A group of 6 friends venture out in a yacht to the open ocean. They decide to go for a swim, but soon realise that no-one lowered the ladder and the boat is too big for anyone to climb on-board. So thus starts a stupendous drama that is unrealistic and quite laughably stupid at times.

The cast give it all they can, but it's clear that the screenwriter is what ultimately doomed the movie. There's no intensity to speak of, and instead of playing on human fears and using sharks we're given an episode of a dumb soap opera that's set out in the ocean.

I couldn't believe that no sharks turned up...even when there's lots of blood in the water! If only we lived in this alternate reality!

As a tale of survival, it's surprisingly unremarkable and uninteresting. The film loses steam extremely quickly, with the final 50 minutes becoming increasingly boring; forcing viewers to stare at their watches or just turn off the movie altogether.

For me, I just wanted to know what happened so I stuck with it. The hope of the group surviving maintained a bit of tension throughout. The direction was actually quite above average. It was well shot, directed and edited considering the very limited budget that the film was made on. But it's a shame some of that cash wasn't used to tidy up the script.

The film is incredibly stupid at times, but well made.

Don't watch this film expecting a "gripping thriller" or anything like that. It's not even a thriller film. Dunno why it's put in that section in the video store. I actually watched this expecting a horror film, and I thought the horror would've ruined it. But it was not even a h...( read more)orror/thriller, it was actually an intense drama film and that's what ruined this film (too much annoying drama scenes/crying). This film is definitely a survival film in the vein of Titanic, Cast Away and other films featuring people lost out somewhere. It's also a little disaster-ish type of film in some ways, but not even a thriller.

Anyways, I thought the film was stupid and boring. The ending is probably one of the worst I've ever seen. What the hell happens!? And how stupid that mother is, leaving her baby and rescuing the guy that was responsible for everything. The characters were so annoying, maybe except for the main one (the mother).

Again like the first one very slow in parts but an improvement from the first. Really unlikable characters take way too long to die. The first Open Water had tension and creepy scares but this one had a cast of douches who argue alot and annoy the hell out of you. The filmmakers never take advantage of the errie-ness of the ocean. Thats what i loved about t...( read more)he first film. The horrors of what you cant see or see when its comming for you.
