As far as "Jaws" rip-offs go, I've seen worse. Richard Harris is a Quint-like fisherman who accidentally (?!?) kills Orca's pregnant wife. Orca goes out for revenge. He acts like a punk teen until he goes too far and bites Bo Derek's leg off. Then Richard gets all pissed off and they go mano a mano on a giant piece of ice. The director also must of thought that Orca was a good actor because there are a lot of close-ups of the big fella looking sad, angry, etc. Either that or maybe he thought he was hot. I'm not sure.
In many ways this was none othen than a rip-off of the Jaws series just, that instead of a shark you have a killer whale instead..Therefore, I was not impressed but, I found some of the film interesting though.
I wasnt impressed by this movie what so ever, there was a good cast and an okay storyline even some parts reminded me of jaws. But i guess it must have been brilliant 4r its time in 1977.
It's actually really funny. The end is so fucking funny and so painfully done that you laugh your ass off. An entire generation of ill educated people probably though Orca's were the newest Jaws.
This movie has a sentimental value for me. The plot of this movie is not much better than jaws: with a vengense, but it tells the story a whole lot better than that movie did. The acting is also a lot better here. But one thing makes this movie stand above the average jaws replikant, Ennio Morricones masterfull score. A delight to hear.
A tale of revenge. A couple play happily together when the 'villain' of the piece turns up intent on making some money accidently kills the female, and the unborn baby. Our 'hero' of the story then sets off to get revenge against those that were responsible. We've seen this kind of story many times before, but what makes this different is that the couple are actually a pair of Orcas (Killer Whales). Richard Harris puts in a good performance as the ship captain targeted by the Orca, who becomes increasingly obsessive with his nemesis.
Wass so trying to be Jaws. But in the end it wasn't. Had some very distrubing images and the idea of killing whales for sport is wrong. Best shot in the whole movie was when the Orca does this "photo capture" effect of remembering who the man is. The reflection of his body in the Orca's eye. LOL was funny... but wasn't supose to be.

This utterly absurd Jaws rip off is amusingly laughable (although the scene with the still born whale calf is actually rather grotesque and unsettling), and kept watchable by reliable old veteran Richard Harris' salty sea dog on the run from a killer whale with a grudge. The usual Moby Dick inspired cliches apply, but at least you get to see Bo Derek have her leg bitten off.
the title says it all people... B grade hollywood trash goodness... and in generl a true ass jaws rip off...for all you people who cant get your kid to stop watching free willy....pop this fucker in...
