Plot: Out of Order is the dark, witty story of the beauty and brutality of a long-term marriage as seen through the eyes of writer Mark Colm (Stoltz), who aspires to make art with his wife, Lorna (Huffman...( read more read more... )). Their latest project – a script for an A-list director (Bogdanovich) – is complicated by Lorna’s battle with clinical depression. She begins to self-medicate with Steven (Macy), a washed-up producer. Mark has always remained faithful to Lorna despite a wandering eye and blatant come-ons from a school mom, Annie (Bateman). He finds himself becoming obsessed with sexy soccer mom Danni (Dickens). This is actually a film that was made by Showtime (cable channel), and I really enjoyed it because it forces the viewers to see the film;s characters as human, with flaws.

The story is engrossing and entertaining, with great acting from Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy and Eric Stoltz

The Showcase miniseries of Out of Order was brilliant and of course better than the very edited movie version but it's still really worth watching for the excellent performances, unique style of story-telling and compelling subject matter. It's a must see for all Eric Stoltz fans too - some of his best work!

I don't really see how this possibly could have started out as a series. Where was it supposed to go?
