It's a strange and specific sub-genre, but the soldiers in an isolated setting tormented by the dead, has been constantly overused of late. Outpost is really no different from previous films, apart from it's slight science twist. The film relies on familiar characters and dialogu...( read more)e you can hear coming from a mile away. It also suffers from taking itself far too seriously. The amount of unexplained details also hinders the enjoyment. The Nazi soldiers seem to have the ability to appear where and when they want, at first, later in the film they are more physical and less super-natural. You can't really feel much for these characters and too much has been left for the sequel. Fine for it's running time, but if you are familiar with R-Point or Guard Post 505, this is a disappointing rerun of such scenario's.

Low Buget and more scary than gore which was good for a change. Worth looking for.

With a plot kinda like 'The Bunker' this is not too bad, It starts of well and does carry on well but as things start to reveal themselves it does get abit silly, with little plot holes here and there.
The soldiers in the film are the usual mixed bag of cliches and predictable ty...( read more)pes that range from all corners of the globe with a token black man just in case haha
One by one they bite the dust in predictable ways but its still quite cool, the Nazi plot makes things interesting and eerie really probably cos we know they did get up to things like this during the war.

To be honest it is very silly and the ending does spoil the ghost aspect of the film as it gets abit 'Aliens' almost in the final showdown, buts its still quite spooky.

A pretty good supernatural mixed sci-fi thriller.... and usually anything with Nazi's in it give me a subtle sense of the creeps.

Anyways, its moves along fast enough though it isn't until you are halfway through the movie then you learn what the mercenaries are up against... an...( read more)d the deep s*** that they got themselves into.

This is as far as it can get from Hollywood, and its not that bad... I enjoyed it. Nothing too fancy, just a creepy tale and a little noir filmmaking.

"You'd think that a horror film that takes a good hour before anything actually happens would have something truly great up its sleeve to surprise us at the moment we think there's no hope of recovery. Well, even though Outpost does kick it up a notch as far as eventfulness is...( read more) concerned in the last half hour, it's just not anywhere near good enough to justify us sitting through its long, event-less first section."

I have to say this film exceeded my expectations. What is it about mixing horror and Nazis? I suppose Nazis are the ultimate bad guys. Although nothing could be ever as scary as what they did in real live. But back to the film. A team of mercenaries head off with a scientist to e...( read more)xplore an old SS bunker. I won't give away what they are looking for. But they soon find that they are not alone. You get a real claustrophobic experience once in the bunker. Also when the team are above the bunker surrounded by the Nazis, the lighting that is used I found to be really scary .What also stands out is the minimal use of special FX. Obviously budget restrains played a part in this. But it's refreshing to see a film concentrate on acting rather than cheap gore tricks trying to shock. I would say this is a ghost film. Though you never really know if the phantom Nazi soldiers are ghosts or zombies? They act like both. The stand out character for pure creepiness is the SS General. As seems to be the trend at the moment the ending is very grim. Which I thought it didn't call for. Apart from this I cant say a bad thing about this film. See it!

I gave this another look this evening after picking it up cheap, and it still holds up very well.

A nicely paced horror film, slowly builds the creep factor as a group of mercenaries enter an old Nazi bunker and run afoul of an abandoned science project from WWII.

This works we...( read more)ll because you never really see a whole lot of the Nazis, they're mostly in shadow and more intimidating because all you really see is the helmet and the slightly distorted features, it's spooky stuff.

While this doesn't show you anything Earth-shatteringly new, it hits all the right notes in the lean 90-something minute running time.

    Recommended.

I really quite enjoyed this supernatural thriller. It difinately was a creepy film with some gross/gore bits and a pretty decent plot. However, the ending was dissappointing. Other than that, difinately one to watch!
