This is just one more thriller movie with nothing new to it. But it's still worth watching, Wes Bentley's performance is superb and the gore scenes are cool.
A couple of good gore scenes. Pretty straightforward but overall a decent amount of tension. Bentley doesn't seem to fit the meanacing crazy guy but maybe that was the film maker's intent. A seemingly normal, unthreatening guy with a crush loses it. Is someone like him obsessed with you?
Rachel Nichols (Alias season 5) stars as a woman who gets stuck working late on Christmas Eve. When it's time to leave the building it turns out to be easier said than done. A lonely and nutty security guard (Wes Bentley) is obsessed with her and won't let her leave.
P2 is mostly good due to having it's nail biting moments. Rachel Nichols also does a good job of making you feel that she's really in danger. Wes Bentley however is both good and bad here. He's a bit better in earlier scenes. His performance gets more and more over the top as the movie goes on though.
There's also one horribly gruesome death scene in the movie as well that brings the movie down a little. Despite that the movie is still a good little thriller like Red Eye. I will say that it's a lot more twisted and bloody than it though.
This film is basically on par with the superior Jodie Foster flicks "Panic Room" and "Flight Plan".
"P2" lacks a tight story and the annoying bad guy's girl lusting motivation runs thin. This movie could have really benefited from a more creative MO for the baddie's abduction.
Amongst these faults this movie does have a satisfying ending, which earns it an additional 1/2 star rating.
DVD WORTHY:
Yeah, if you're a suspense/thriller fan ...but get it for cheap though.
For a while, I am scared to go to the carpark alone. It is really scary? knowing that psycho can be employed as security guards. Not to mention, they just spy and peek and just stare at you. When the suddenly decides to attack? it?s like the biggest nightmare ever! I think it is a little B grade but hell, it does give me a good scare especially the part where the psycho actually beat the crap out of the guy who previously harrested the girl. Definately not a good watch if you are alone.
Started slow, was never too exciting. I was hoping to feel a little suspense but really never did. I was bored through most the movie, and grossed out during the rest. If Wes Bentley wasn't in this I would have turned it off. :(
A decent slasher film that substitutes the masked killer with a lonely stalker. Though Redsin Tower was better with the psycho stalker, I thought Bentley portrayed a lonely, yet psychotic and aggressive madman great. Plus I liked how his own advice seals his fate.
This movie makes me afraid of my P2! It took place all at one building, but it wasn't short on suspence and scares. It was very well done! A great scary Christmas movie.
Thank god not another mass murderer torture bullshit. While it had one (unnecessary) disgusting murder (plus one dog kill), the most part was just "tension" stuff. Wasn't as thrilling as a real good thriller, but still had a good atmosphere and was somewhat smart for the most part. One of the better standard "horror" thrillers currently out there in any case! "You're trying to get me fired, aren't you?"
This thriller had fairly bad reviews and I figured it was going to be shit before I even started watching it. What I didn?t expect is to find a fairly interesting and engaging thriller, but I did. Wes Bentley has always been an actor that I?ve liked in movies and P2 was no exception. He played the psychopathic security guard very well. I don?t think I had seen Rachel Nichols in anything other than her small role in the latest Amityville Horror movie as the babysitter, but she seemed to do well in this leading role. She certainly had the big breasts, wet white dress look down. It was a relatively simple plot, where the attractive young woman leaves work late to find her car won?t start and she ends up stuck in the parking lot with a psychopath who wants to hurt anyone who hurt her, but as she runs, he grows increasingly annoyed with her. It essentially becomes a chase movie, playing cat and mouse in an enclosed secluded area. This type of plot can get boring it is continues for too long, which this movie narrowly escapes coming in at around an hour and a half.
This movie is made for Rachel Nichols, who's deserved it by her solid performance in acting ( she also gets soaking wet and screams all she can). I hope from now on she will take more leading roles than just being an eye candy.
P2 might not be a culture classic in thriller genre, but it's a little fun drive in a parking garage of all time. 3 and a half stars for rating is pretty fair.
Well at least it was better than "Captivity". I liked the couple scenes of gore but that was about it. It was only ok. Wes Bently was NOT scary...a little creepy but didn't think he was a good match for the role.
Rachel Nichols is stunning, unfortunately this film isn't. It's basically your average slasher movie.... guy chasing girl... in a car park! Ooooh. It has it's moments but generally it's executed badly and is just a horror about a girl running around an underground parking garage with a loony after her. I guess it would have also been more effective for a UK release nearer Christmas, as the movie is set on Christmas eve and all... however we Brits got it in May. So all potential atmosphere died on impact. If it had been clever and Nichols' character could have held her own against Wes Bentley's portrayal of a crazy-ass stalker, it would have been interesting.... but it seems like every chance the girl had were diminished before they even began... which became very repetitive and very dull, very quickly! Pointless gore for pointless gore sake, I especially like the fact that Nicols' finger nail entirely broke off for pressing it purposefully too hard into the ground! Yikes. The performances were pretty mediocre and overall the movie feels like it would be pretty forgettable. The Con's mostly outweigh the Pro's. Even the fact that Nichols was running around in a low-cut dress and soaking wet couldn't save it for me... and that's saying something. Cleavagey ;)
Good film with a creepy setting and a story that makes you think what if that was me,the film is in a everyday area which sends a shiver down your spine.Good acting from the lead actors and not much gore makes you able to stomach it easily, one to watch definately
Nothing new here, but what could've been a movie worth two stars, became three thanks to Rachel Nichols' acting. She was believable in every way, got a whole range of emotions out of her and I kept putting myself in her shoes, she nailed panic and fear. Watch out for her, I think she's gonna be big.
