"Who you set out to be is not always who you become." It applies bitterly to Paan Singh Tomar's life. Set out to be an athletic champion, he ends up as a bandit. Medals of national championship games are naught for the local police. Although not genuinely interested in the Army or winning the National Championship games, he's not looking forward to a career as a bandit either. His fate had its own plans, though. While I find the character incredibly interesting, there's not enough records on him. Tigmanshu Dhulia has given it his own touch, but it's not quite engaging. Irrfan does justice to the role. Fairly crafted, the movie is suitable for a single watch. The repetitious whining of "I'm not a bandit..." begins to get on nerve, though. Except for that & any other flaw that might have managed to escape me for now, it's a fair game.
