Nice little indie film. Forsythe, Gallo and Trese are great in the prospective roles and what the film lacks in conclusion, it make up for in humour.

Palookaville is an "inept crook comedy", which could have easily been a Tarentinoesque violence thing, Instead, it is a low key comedy with lots of muted laughs, good performances, and wonderful character development. William Forsythe, Vincent Gallo and Adam Trese play lifelong ...( read more)buddies in Jersey City, New Jersey, all unemployed, all more or less in a state of perpetual childhood, and all looking for a way to make some money and have a life. As the film opens, they are breaking into a jewelry store. They make a small miscalculation, and end up in a bakery. Being basically optimistic guys, they make the best of things by clearing out the few dollars in the register, and eating their fill of pastry. They then try an abortive attempt to run an unlicensed taxi, and then finally hit on "the idea." They will rob an armored car. The usually sardonic tone that one finds in these sorts of films has been softened to a more ironic stance; most of the characters in Palookaville know that the joke of life is on them. They are the rankest of amateurs up against 'the system', but, to their surprise, they discover that the system isn't necessarily any more competent than they are; it simply has more force at its disposal.

A very amusing left field heist movie with plenty of laughs and a very "indie" feel. Fans of QT and Guy Ritchie should definitely check it out.

So offbeat, (not really) perhaps the film was made in 1995.

A really enjoyable movie had a good story to it. watching them try to rob the armored truck was really cool. Also the sub plots were also done very well, involving the three guys and there ladies. William Forsythe kind of looks like my uncle robert.

Good indie. A comedy abt good people trying to do bad deeds.
