I finally found a copy of this on DVD and was a very different movie.Being a Sly freak i knew it was worth checking out.So i must say it has some staying power and heart but not as much as Over The Top or of course Rocky.Still worth a watch if u like Slys movies.
This is vintage Stallone.Mostly rock em sock em yet also with a slight love/lust jusxtoposition. There is pathos as well as silliness. Also Stallone briefly gives one of his finest acting performances.Actually the best thing about this movie are the pro wrestling scenes. The pro wrestlers involved in the making of this film are legendary. In fact former N.W.A. World Heavyweight Champin Terry Funk performs a tour-de-force as Frankie The Thumper.
this an amazing story about the harsh time of the 70s in one of the toughtst neighbourhoods back then, Hell's Kitchen and about 2 guys Sylvester Stallone and Armand Assante who try to find their way out of that shit hole, i all begins with a fight that Cosmos's(Stallone) brother wins and he tries to exploit him, but ass soon as u hit high shit starts happening like always!!! a great film with good cast and with the directing skillz of Stallone himself....think it was his first film produced by him!!!
this was made right after rocky. its set in new york. its also tom waits first movie. its just a silly movie and its not very good.
There's potential for something good here but for me it fell flat. I think Stallone was going for something more serious than he achieved, but something went wrong along the way.
