Plot: Dark, unsettling, and intriguing, Paranoia Agent confirms Satoshi Kon's position as one of the most interesting directors currently working in Japan. A baseball bat-wielding adolescent randomly...( read more read more... ) attacks five people in Tokyo, each of whom is grappling with a serious problem. Toy designer Tsukiko endures tremendous pressure to repeat her previous success; bottom-feeding journalist Kawazu desperately needs money. Popular sixth grader Yuuichi feels threatened by the new kid in his class, the dumpy nerd Usshi. Yuuichi's tutor Harumi is a compassionate scholar by day; at night, she becomes Maria, a sleazy hooker. The seemingly purposeless violence of Lil' Slugger (originally Shounen Bat, literally "Bat Boy"), also disrupts the lives of police detectives Maniwa and Karino, and their corrupt boss Hirukawa. As he did in Perfect Blue, Kon deliberately blurs the boundaries between reality and fantasy: Does Tsukikio's stuffed toy really talk to her? Which is Harumi's true personality? A noteworthy series from an important artist. This set includes all four volumes of the series. Funny, Intelligent, psychotic idiosyncratic, surreal at times. Paranoia Agent is the most unpredictable Anime series I had ever seen. You would never guess what's going to happen in the next episode, and yet it always delivers. The ending is a little anti-climactic considering the intense build-up, but doesn't really take away anything from the show. My 2nd most favorite Anime series after Evangelion

one of the best and most stylish anime i had ever seen.
the urban landscape and the characters design are amazing, the music and colors make this one of the best Kon Satoshi work!

I had a chance to check the complete series on 'Adult Swim', instantly became one of my favorite anime series ever... I guess what I like about this series is that it has a 'Stephen King' quality to the story... Just like Stephen King can take a normal everyday ocurrence (although a kid on golden roller skates whacking people with a golden baseball bat would hardly qualify as 'normal'), and with a little dark twist here and there, can make it into something that at times will scare the living daylights out of everyone, Satoshi Kon shows this kind of gift in this anime series... Had me guessing at every turn! If you are into quality anime, this is a series to check!

My opinion of this series changed from episode to episode as different styles were used for each episode. As a whole I felt the series was done very well and the ending did not disappoint. My least favorite episode was the interview with the first suspect as I thought the sereis was going to go down a path I would not have been interested in however by the next episode I was once again on the edge of my seat. I unfortunately can't discuss my favorite episodes without spoiling the plot as they tend to occur towards the end. Watching this has made me want to revisit Perfect Blue.

The best mini-series I have ever seen...the power of its social commentary is both unsettling and eye opening.

Every episiode of this anime made me gasp. I thought it was particularly clever, lots of psychology in it if you're into that kind of thing

Amazing, complex story. Though likly to bore the masses, if you're looking for a complex mind-fuck this is for you; one of the (if not the single most) intelligent series I've ever seen, anime of otherwise.

    Good, creepy, and very intelligent.

A nice mix that can appeal to many things in people.

To how we react in situations.

And the line between Paranoia and Fantasy.
