June 21, 2007kubrick - so obviously thoughtful, deep and shot beutifully. A bit dated and some acting OTT, but superior anti-war flick. Touching ending when all the french soldiers start humming a german song sung by a female POW. We love you stanley

April 28, 2007Cobb's novel of the same name is given a serious and successful visual treatment by Kubrick. Douglas and company are first rate and this movie still moves audiences today.

March 25, 2007If I'm not mistaken, this film was banned in France until 1975, some 18 years after its release. Compelling movie about the ravages of war, morals and ethics. Kirk Douglas is tremendous.

January 17, 2007The oldest movie in my collection and certainly one of the very best ones I own!
This is a movie about extreme unjustice in 1916 in France, during the First World War. It is not for soft hearts, but I recommend it to everyone!
