At first I thought this movie would be stupid. But then I thought it might be funny. Well it was somewhere in the middle, cute, but also forgettable. I thought that it was a lot like Home Alone in the mall (but a lot less funny, maybe like Home Alone 3, which I have unfortunately...( read more) seen).

I like Kevin James in the "King of Queens" so I rented this. It was pitiful.

No, this is certainly not a piece of cinematic genus, but for light fare it will do.
I have always had a soft spot for Kevin James. He does physical comedy very well and he just comes across as incredibly personable.
The PG rating is definitely pushing it. Even though the com...( read more)edy never went too bawdy it did have enough "peril" and "implied violence" that it almost met that PG-13 rating. The humor never devolved into jokes about bodily fluids and there was no sexuality to speak of.
The story is about a nice guy who actually gets to stand up and sing a little...or a lot. The stunts and the set ups are fun and even though some of the best jokes were in the previews this was a cute watch that pretty much met my expectations (albeit those expectations were quite low).
A good physical comedy with a decent heart.
Don't rush to go see it, but no need to dismiss it either.

I've given this flick a really hard time without ever seeing it, so I thought I better watch it as to not malign it without merit. Now that I've seen it I can say that I was right all along, This thing is a head-slap moronic struggle to get through shit-fest. Pretty much as dumb ...( read more)as they come. I LOVE Jayma Mays, who here looks very hot rather than just her "pretty" self from GLEE. Kevin James is likeable and does some funny bits. The problem is the world around him. Every single person is completely brain-dead. The cops/SWAT, the mall employees ALL 100% morons. And whose idea was it to have all these EXTREME SPORTS bad guys???? OHH man..BLAM... thats me slapping my head at the straight up moronisity. So bad, yet America loved it. With this we continue to step closer and closer to Idiocracy.

Judging purely on the trashing by critics I thought this film would be far worse; whilst its not great; it brings a few laughs and does no harm; its a good family film; clean jokes and the performances are fine; including the adorable Jayma Mays.

Most of the jokes fall flat; a...( read more)nd the ones that work drag on too much; but the film is compromised mainly of slapstick humor which manages to hold the film together along with its short running time.

Not bad, not great. Warranted more than a few chuckels, but silly for the most part.
