What would you do if you could go back, knowing what you know now? You might have to be middle aged and possibly on the brink of divorce to get this movie. If you have recently been wallowing in nostalgia, it might make you cry. An extra half star for Kathleen Turner.

Peggy Sue Got Married's premise is a wonderful one, which takes on other meanings as age creeps up and the years whistle by.
When I first saw it as a kid, I appreciated the story and what was happening, sure, but the nostalgic aspect was somewhat lost on me. I wasn't asking myse...( read more)lf the questions the film asks. But, as I've got older, I have pondered those questions. 'What would you do, being 17 again, with the benefit of hindsight?' It's a question whose answer offers up some rose-tinted nostalgia and some melancholy, as you could see, talk to and have fun with people you know you'll never see again.
This is an aspect of the plot which is expertly explored in the movie. Some scenes are brilliantly full of double-meaning and cross-purpose.
When Peggy Sue and her boyfriend and future husband, from whom she will be separated, pending divorce, are together, she and the audience know that the couple have spent years together. When she tries to connect with him as a 17 year-old, she has to put herself back in her teenage shoes and talk, as if at the beginning of a relationship with this guy. These challenges make for great scenes
Kathleen Turner's performance is brilliantly observed. She somehow makes a convincing teenager.
It's a brilliant story with interesting, engaging characters and fascinating questions to ask. It's funny to boot.
I'm definitely a Francis Ford Coppola fan, but often, his films are met with mixed reactions, as he tries different approaches to filmmaking. With this one, he just assembled a great cast to tell a story - simplicity itself - and it paid off.

A "do-over" movie which teaches a valuable lesson. You may think you would do things differently, but how many of us would repeat or nearly repeat the same foolish mistakes all over again.

A bit dated now especially because of what she told the nerd about how portable stereos got bigger when we've now got i pods and other changes that occur in the future too. However if you can also get past the fact that Kathleen Turner is meant to be a teenager then she and Nic C...( read more)age give good, solid performances and with a terrific storyline it's worth watching.

I can't understand this really... She's married with a jackass, she is going to divorce him, and when she has the chance to go to the past she let's all in the same?! Yeah yeah, she decided to fix her marriage, it's hard to change the past, bla bla bla... It's an enjoyable movie,...( read more) but fuck, she should have married the geek!

Very clever and very well done. Not of "Godfather" caliber but very enjoyable and very watchable. Joan Allen did this a long time ago!

"I'm going to check out of this bourgeois motel, push myself from the dinner table and say, "No more Jell-o for me, mom!""

Couldn't stand this film. It wasn't funny at all, it was miscast on Kathleen Turner's part I felt because she just looked too old to play the young P...( read more)eggy Sue! That's all I could think when I was watching her.. And the story and script I both thought were crap. Don't bother watching.

Nicolas Cage at his weirdest! I've never seen him in a role like that before. It was a decent film. I wonder why they never showed her other kid.

This is a sweet, fluffy little romantic comedy about making things right. Kathleen Turner is charming as the woman who time travels back to her high school days, and Nicolas Cage is very funny as her high school boyfriend. This movie has not made a lasting impression on me, but I...( read more) remember enjoying it while it was playing. A very not-challenging, fun movie.

A charming, whimsical movie that boasts Coppola's trademark stamp in terms of visual prowess. Despite some clunky dialogue and humorous misfires, this is an entertaining movie filled with memorable performances.

Not sure who thought this could all work with this cast and plot idea; but there you have it. Not quite the Back To The Future clone they thought it was going to be.

Another film about travelling back in time which mostly hits the right notes in this genre. However Kathleen Turner is not a very charasmatic lead, and neither is Nicholas Cage. The ending is also very disappointing. You get left feeling they could have done more with the subject...( read more) matter.

Wasn't quite how I'd expected it to be, I wasn't too impressed, it was a good storyline, I just didn't find the actors so talented in this movie.
It felt like they were just reading from the script instead of giving the movie feeling and happening.

I rented this movie from the local library, and was kind of interested at the time, but not really. After I watched it, I usually rent it a couple of times, or wait for it on TV. What a cute, funny movie that rubs off to be the girl's version of "It's a Wonderful Life". Nic Ca...( read more)ge's accent was pretty different, never heard that particular one, but it definitely fit the part. Jim Carrey didn't do so bad himself, but only had a short appearance.
