Saul Bass kicks ass! After making many memorable opening credit sequences Bass finally makes his directorial debut. Artistic, gorgeous and disturbing, I'm surprised this isn't at least considered a horror classic let alone a movie classic. Sadly this was Bass' only directorial...( read more)

This movie was simply outstanding. It was kind of like an art film, but the ants were incredible. They did everything! I couldn't believe how fantastic this film was. Everyone needs to see it! I promise that you will not be disappointed!

A mindbending 70s, intelligent sci-fi thriller with some amazing (and disturbing) visuals.

One of my favorite monster movies - it's actually really well done. Oh, and the DVD may have come out in 2002 but this one is from the 70's.

Above average, low budget SF that IS corny and cliched but it also has enough 'ugh' value to take it out of the ordinary. The insect sequences are pretty amazing actually - the ant with the big yellow arse gives a particularly fine performance deserving of an an oscar nomination ...( read more)

Killer ants. What a great idea. Why don't we make a movie about killer squirrels while we're at it?

March 5, 2009Interesting, enigmatic, & slightly psychedelic science fiction mystery that's too slow for its own good. Fantastic photography however that shows real ants as quite creepily intelligent. Worth a watch if you like challenging but quiet SF. That Saul Bass, famous for his opening credit sequences in lots of other films, directed this is nicely ironic as *it has no opening credits whatsoever.* Don't see that too often but it works really well here. I've heard the original ending was pretty trippy but the studio made Bass cut it. Alas the DVD is bare bones so don't expect to see it there.
