I LOVE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, BUT THIS ONE I DIDN'T ENJOY AS MUCH!! THE ONLY PART REALLY THAT I DIDN;T LIKE WAS THE ENDING!!!! SO I THINK THEY NEED TO MAKE A FOURTH ONE!!
Such an amazing end to the trilogy, goodness don't get me started on Johnny Depp again :) I've always looved Pirates and this just tops it off :):):):)
Why does every franchise have to spend less and less time on character devlopment and more and more time on special effects and fights and explosions? When you have a great actor and character like this at the center - why not take advantage of that?
Hoist the colors, because it's the latest pirate feature, and there pulling out as much stops as possible. Even though the film has quite a few less then satisfying moments. Depp delivers his usual performance and is still masterful at capturing the character. Rush seems a bit lackluster at times in his performance, but still delivers. Knightly shows her acting skill with an exceptional performance. Her best scene has to be the on with dead people in boats. Bloom, thought not a terrible actor, is still dead pan at times, but shines whenever he's opposite Skarsgard. Nighy, Hollander, Davenport, and Skarsgard give fine performances as well and capture our attention for when their on screen. Chow does a fine job for the brief screen time he has, but honestly when you have a chinese pirate where is the awesome swordplay! Seriously we needed to see him fight more then two seconds. Every side chracter's performance makes them stand out on their own and not get lost in the hustle and bustle.. The story requires you to watch the film closely a couple times and then it starts to grow on you. You need to understand the characters to get how they work together at the end of the film. Though I can't forgive them for how the goddess Calypso was finally revealed. It incredibly corny and should have been done completely differant. Still I love the beginning sequence, as well as the final battle. The writers did a fine job on some parts, and not so good on others. More kudos for Verbinski though for delivering another good blockbuster. So watch it more then once if your a fan and you'll start to get it. Except for the giant Calypso. That was just terrible.
Not good enough. And way too long. Still, it outshines its predecessor, throwing much more thrill and excitement into this third (and perhaps, final) installment.
this movie was soooo long i dont think its possible for e to sit throught this.. this does sound hipocritical coming from a L.O.T.R. fan... but it was just too much of the same crap.
Definately not as good as the second and first ones, but it was very, very good! Had as much action, storyline, romance, comedy, but not enough JOHNNY! LoL. Some details didn't seem necessary at some parts, but it turned to be a winner like its predecessors
Now that I've seen it...it has a good story...you kinda need a couple double takes to understand it...but I love Johnny Depp so it's ok. Barbossa's awesome :{)
At 2 hours and 45 minutes this one was convoluted and drawn out too far. The pacing could have been improved with more editing. I did, however, love the opening sequence where hundreds of people accused of piracy are hung as a British officer reads...(read more) a list of rights that have been suspended, such as Habeas Corpus (the name of a legal action, or writ, through which a person can seek relief from unlawful detention of himself or another person. The writ of habeas corpus has historically been an important instrument for the safeguarding of individual freedom against arbitrary state action -from Wiki)
I found that to be a highly amusing and astute political swipe from an "empty" summer flick.
Ugh. Okay, I'm a Johnny Depp fan. Before this movie, I never thought that there could be too much Depp. Actually, I think it was more a case of too much Captain Jack. Anyway, bleh. Watchable for pirates and some scenes, worst of the three.
not bad, a lot of people find it complicated, none of my family got the jist of the story but i did. its just a lot for some people to take in.
it kind of drags on and is very slow but does get to a point if you can understand it :).
however its still worth watching and it has it's funny moments and good battle scenes on the ships.
but i just dont think its the best one and hopefully that will be it because the ending was classic and should be left at that.
good acting from all the cast, johnny depp keeps it interesting. a bit of drama, action, horror romance and comedy. what more could you want:)
I loved this movie so much! People were saying that it was complicated but it wasn't at all, and others were saying it was boring, but it wasn't! This is a must see for all pirate lovers and johnny depp lovers
An awesome movie, Though not better than the previous two parts but yet it was a wonderful film and love the acting of major characters. The death of James Norington forced me to be so sad. He died bravely. Happy to see Will as a captain of Flying Dutchman
Better than Dead Man's Chest, but still not enough. The original was a great movie because of it's unique content, and you can't recreate that when you take all the things that made it special and bleed it dry in five hours of both sequels.
One of the biggest disappointments of the movies of 2007. This movie was too long to even capture what it should've. almost nothing was acomplished within the first two hours and then the last hour seemed a bit rushed. throughout the whole movie there was nothing but low-class, childish jokes and random events. it felt like Gore and everyone else who worked on this film didn't think much of what they were doing. the most annoying part of the film would have to be it's ending. it just raises more questions and confusion.
I guessed the whole storyline within the first 20 minutes then had to sit through another 148 minutes of crap! Plus, I went at the first few viewings and got stuck at the front ¬_¬ I loved the previous films, but this was a serious let down.
Well, they definitely left this "final" in the "trilogy" open for another film. There are things I liked much better than 2nd film (namely, the return of Barbossa -- dare I say my favorite pirate?) But this pleasure was off-put by other letdowns . . . the lame "romance" between Elizabeth and Will, Elizabeth's (way too) big of a role and importance in this version, the continued confusion, esp. on everyone's motivation, Calypso, and I won't even mention the death of one of my other favorite characters . . .
But very, very good effects and exciting action. All the pirate lore you can think of, and, of course, the eminent Jack Sparrow. (Can we truly ever let him go? Can Johnny Depp? Nah -- I expect and approve a volume 4.)
I dont know. I thought I'll love it but...it was a bit disappointing. I think many might disagree with me but I believe that the first movie in the trilogy was the best. The wit and the feel of the movie has been lost slowly from the first to the last.
