Childhood friends Dan and Melissa (Johnson and Harney-Jones) end up taking two entirely separate paths after they grow up. Dan, lovelorn over his unrequited feelings for Melissa, becomes dedicated to baseball and ends up a star player. Melissa, coming from a broken home, ends up in a series of bad relationships and becomes a pin-up (Harney-Jones was herself a Playboy Playmate). However, even as fate conspires to periodically bring the pair back together, it always seems as if something prevents them from romantic happiness. Part BULL DURHAM and part FORREST GUMP, THE PITCHER AND THE PIN-UP is a dramatic and warm film about the two loves of one man's life.
