Not even the excellent cast could save this misjudged stinker of a movie. Burton should have known better.

I preferred the first Planet of the Apes. This one was OK - the story kept you interested; peace reigns at the end.

But just as the astronaut (Mark Wahlberg) is about to get killed, his monkey co-astronaut lands from centuries ago and saves the day -- how hokey is that? Plus...( read more) the ending -- it wasn't clear and wasn't any good as far as I was concerned - it was only made that way to enable a sequel to be made.

"Get your stinking hands off me, you damn dirty human!"

This film is a remake that should never needed to me made. I'm not a big fan of remakes, infact I pretty much choose not to view them at all. If a film is already a classic, why film another version?

Tim Burton is one of ...( read more)my favourite filmmakers. His vision to filmmaking is something that others can only dream of. So, in a way, this film had a lot of potential. A big budget and one of the most talented directors. What went wrong?

First of all, Mark Wahlberg. He is in no way a leading actor. His character should be the one your caring for but I seemed to care more of the apes, especially Michael Clarke Duncan's Attar.

Secondly, it looks good but lacks all the magic that we are used to see and get from Burton films.

I'm sure that even Tim Burton himself sees "Planet of the Apes" as the only fault in his filmography. Sure, there's action and... Well, there is a lot of things in the movie but in overall all the potential has been laid to waste.

    Tim Burton is a hack.
Yea you heard me, a hack!

Please Tim, go work in an art department, you're obviously more comfortable there.

I have never seen the original, but aside from occasional suspense and creepiness, and a strange ending, I have pretty much forgotten this film altogether. It is not particularly appealing or memorable.
