This movie will always be one of my favs. I pretty much know it off by heart, LOL. I can't really pick out one thing I liked the best, cause I liked it all!!

An intriguing buddy film about a hot shot CIA agent who gets mixed up with a surfer looking for the ultimate high in thrills. Swayze is great and Keanu Reeves about as stiff as ever, but pretty gosh darned good in his role similar to that of Speed except he has a bigger learning curve here.

Vraiment un bon film de cop ... Keanu reeves d'apres moi a son meilleur et patrick swayze est aussi sensationnel ... WOW
-

Adrenaline junkies at their finest, but the skydive scene was funny, a 5 or something minute drop :P

X-treme sports and x-treme bank robbery ending with a ride on a big ol' wave. Why wouldn't you wanna sit and watch this thrill piece for a couple of hours. And what about these boys eh? Don't they look young?

"Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true."
Point Break is simply a classic, highly entertaining action flick aimed at the mass market.
Keanu is new FBI agent recruit Johnny Utah. Young and ready for action, Utah is transferred to the band robbery division.
His first assignment is to investigate a string of bank robberies in Southern California that have been committed by a gang who call themselves 'The Ex-Presidents'. Going undercover, Utah infiltrates a group of surfers lead by surfer guru Bodhi (Swayze) and slowly learns to respect their lifestyle. These surfers are suspects in the investigation, so Utah must choose between his new friends or his duty that he has sworn to complete.
By this point in his career, Keanu Reeves still needed a few more acting lessons. For the most part he's incredibly wooden and lacking any emotion; spitting out words that sound rehearsed and unnatural.
Patrick Swayze was actually really good here. Thank God someone of Swayze's stature appeared in this movie. He almost manages to make up for Reeves' corny acting.
For an action movie, the script isn't too bad. Granted the film moves from cliché to cliché, and is very predictable...but at least it's entertaining!
The high energy action scenes make for essential viewing, especially for those who enjoy the genre.
Point Break is an action movie mixed with some energetic scenes of surfing. Some of the cinematography during the surfing scenes is fantastic, and the film is generally very entertaining.
It was great to see some characters pop up in Australia at the end. Worth a screening. -
What a cool movie. One of Keanu Reeves's better films. And Patrick Swayze and Gary Busey adds they own touch to it. A must watch!
-
one hell of a bad ass action film. it had a great story and both reeves and swayze were awesome. definatly one of my favorite action movies
-
A little over the top at times. Keanu Reeves does a pretty good job playing the hot shot rookie FBI agent partnered with the veteren, Gary Busey. The surf element is what makes it unique.
-
Awesome action movie, brilliantly shot, every element in this film was perfect, and it's one of Reeves' best roles yet.
-
One of the most under-rated action movies. How could a movie where bank robbers wear masks of former presidents get bad reviews ? This movie is just...cool and Patrick Swayze kicks ass in it lol.
What makes it different is that it has copes & robbers.....football.....skydiving and surfing all in one movie. It may be over-stuffed and silly even but it's still beautifully made. -
Ben Harp: Special agent Utah! This is not some job, flipping burgers at the local drive-in! Yes! - your surf board bothers me! Yes! - your approach to this whole damn case bothers me! And yes! - YOU BOTHER ME! And Pappas! Oh, for the love of Christ. How the hell did I even let you talk me into this whole bone-headed idea to begin with.
Pappas: Harp! We are working under-cover. It takes time. We've produced a few...
Ben Harp: NO! No no no no no no NO! Let me tell you what you've produced... Over the last two weeks, you two have produced exactly squat! SQUAT! During which time the ex-presidents have robbed two more banks. Now for Christ's sake, does either one of you have anything even remotely interesting to tell me?
[brief pause]
Johnny Utah: I caught my first tube today... Sir.
A great guy movie, from a female director. Of course that doesn't matter, what does matter is if it's good, and it is, it is a whole lot of fun. Surfing. Skydiving. Bank Robbery. The three things that I want to see Swayze do more of in Point Break 2: Electric Bugaloo, The Return of Bodhi.
Bodhi: If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.
The story involves a rookie FBI agent, Keanu Reeves, going undercover into the surfing scene, in hopes to learn the identity of some notorious bank robbers, due to a theory from his partner, Gary Busey.
This leads to Keanu meeting the local surf God Bohdi, Patrick Swayze, who may become more involved with Keanu than just acting as a surf coach.
Of course, since this involves surfing, next to Swayze, Keanu is in his element as well. He is completely fitting in this atmosphere that works, even if it does take itself way too seriously.
What definetely helps is Bigalow's visual style. The surfing stuff looks great. The action is very well handled, with some pretty cool long shots, and a sweet chase scene. There is even some sky diving stuff that just works thanks to the photography. The brooding score from Mark Isham is fitting as well.
It's just a fun movie that works due to a reason given by Bohdi, 100% adrenaline.
Johnny Utah: Okay. I get it. This is where you tell me that "locals rule", and that Yuppie insects like me shouldn't be surfing the break, right?
Bunker Weiss: [smiling] Nope.
Surf gang: That would be a waste of time...
Lupton "Warchild" Pittman: We're just gonna fuck you up! -
A deep film about spirituality and mysticism masquerading as a terrific action flick. The bank robbery alone is worth the price of admission. One of Keanu's best, and Patrick Swayze's too. Watch for members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in a cameo.
-
Pretty decent, entertaining action film. I actually saw this in the theater when I spent a summer in Virginia Beach. For that reason it's a little sentimental but I was surprised to find that I still enjoy it now. The surfing and skydiving scenes are particularly awesome! The biggest downfall for me would be the language and Keanu Reeves lack of acting skill.
-
Love the action when Keanu Reeves is chasing Patrick Swayze and doesnt shoot him but then perishes in a large wave.
-
pretty good movie reeves does a great job as an fbi agent who has to go undercover in order to catch bank robbers who happen to be surfers, swayze does awesome job as one of the robbers
-
Have you ever fired your gun in the air and gone Ahhh? Also self-refferential Swayze humour is always a bonus.
-
Good crime thriller, about FBI agent going undercover to catch notorious band of thieves.Great performances from Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.
-
thought i rated this shit before...oh well...this movie is always made fun of...but it's SO MUCH FUN
-
Haha most people would dog this movie but for some reason I'm a firm believer in the brilliance of this movie.
-
Very funny ride from the 90's, is just simple action without expecting anything else.
This is the only good performance from Patrick Swayze in all his whole career. -
If you want to see a bank get robbed by a bunch of former presidents, than I suggest this movie for you.
