When two police academies are in the run for best one in the state, Mahoney (Steve Guttenberg) and the gang recruit and train new recruits to prevent the Academy's closure.
Also stars Bubba Smith, David Graf, Michael Winslow, Leslie Easterbrook, Marion Ramsey, Bobcat Goldthwait and George Gaynes.
The state's skinflint governor (Ed Nelson) claims that the current budget can't allow both police academies to run, so he announces that the two will compete to be the one which remains open. He also announces that the winning academy will be chosen by a committee.
"Commandant Mauser" (Art Metrano), who runs one of the two state police academies, will do anything to close the other academy, which is run by "Commandant Eric Lassard" (George Gaynes), so he pursuades two of "Lassard's" own trainers (Brant Van Hoffmann and Scott Thomson) to tell him what is going on at "Lassard's" academy.
"Lassard" himself is quite worried about the competition, so he calls for help from his favorite graduating class, lead by the madcap "Sgt. Carrey Mahoney" (Steve Guttenberg). Also returning to the academy are: the weapon-obssessed "Sgt. Eugene Tackleberry" (the late David Graf), the incredibly strong "Sgt. Moses Hightower" (Bubba Smith), the tough and buxom former police academy instructor "Lieutenant Debbie Callahan", the "Human Sound-Effects Machine" "Sgt. Larvell Jones", the soft-voiced "Sgt. Laverne Hooks", and the fairly clutzy "Sgt. Douglas Fackler".
With a new group of recruits behind them, "Mahoney" and the crew must fight to keep "Lassard's" long-running academy open no matter what it takes.
This is a good follow-up to the last two films in the series, with a few flaws.
The cast members from the first two movies have certainly melded nicely. Their timing is pretty flawless with the jokes and gags, and they work well with the new additions to the franchise.
The jokes and gags, for the most part, are ones seen in the previous films. However, unlike the "Austin Powers" series, which relies on reused jokes for a laugh, the reused jokes work just as they did in the first film.
Plot development moves a little quickly due to the movie being approximately 82 minutes long, which hampers the development of the characters debuting in this film. However, the pace of the film is good. It also hampers the development of the subplots, many of which are just touched upon.
Despite the problems, the film is just a fun time where you will only need some knowledge of the previous films when it comes with the characters who appeared in the first two films. It is pretty campy, with no excessive violence you might expect in a cop movie.
In my opinion, this would be a good rental for any night of the week.
Jerry Paris returns to helm a sequel to the first flick, this time with a training theme, again, and new people added to it. The kooky cops return, but the yucks are more yuck than ha hah.
Some of the same returning cast again with their great personalities. The story was not that good for this one. Some new characters again that were fun to watch. Not too bad of a movie, but they needed to stop making these films.
A fairly solid sequel that goes back to training, but doesn't become a rehash of the first film. Another thing...Goodbye, Mauser! It was nice knowing you.
i saw this movie. its pretty funny. especially that 1 scene with those 2 brawlers dancing the tango in that 1 gay bar. that woman who has a barely audible voice and the sound effects guy's pretty funny too
It's not quite as funny as the first Police Academy movies, but is pretty close. Former gang Bobcat Goldthwaite and nerd Tim Kazurinsky are so hilarious in the Police Academy.
It's not quite as funny as the first two POLICE ACADEMY movies, but is pretty close. It's kind of like the first POLICE ACADEMY except with a different set of people being trained to be cops. The characters are hilarious and so is the movie.
Two police academies compete to keep their doors open, cause the city has decided one of the local academies is going to shut down, so it's Lassard's groups vs Mousers group.
Not as funny as the first, that's for sure. I kept waiting for a hillarious part, but it never really came. So it's a bit disappointing as a sequel, then again nobody expects a sequel to be better than the original anyway.
Goofy and endearing, this films sports a wide cast of different charcaters and their own gimmicks. A very fun movie, and the Blue Oyster is as hilarious as ever.
In this sequel, the gang of the Academy are up against the conniving Mauser and a closing of one of the academies. A funny movie with a lot of craziness.
De veras me encanta las peliculas tengo toda la coleccion y siempre me gusto el personaje de HighTower. Y Mahonnie de veras es ta loco con sus travesuras...
please GIVE me ONE of their guns... so i can shoot them all, horrible , totally unfunny .. stupido kid humour which gets my goat... and actually only 1 actor in these that i like, but for some reason cant remember his name but for the others... urgh please go back to the pram/playpen and grooooooow up !! and u mr writer who needs a slap!!! total THUMBS DOWN ~blows rasberries~
Man, did you know that in this one JOnes makes funny noises? Yeah, he does. Tackleberry goes nuts with his guns. He really does. Hey, did you know that Leslie Easterbrook thrusts her breasts in faces? She does.
There are so many new things in this one that I am tempted to tell you to rent the first, funny one so that you won't have your mind blown.
