In Poll, Russians, Germans, and Estonians live uneasily alongside one another and with the war drums beating, local tensions are at an all time high. As her privileged aunt Milla joins the rest of the aristocratic German family in denying the inevitable, Oda happens across a wounded Estonian anarchist, and surreptitiously nurses him back to health.
