I miss Craig T. Nelson & the group from the first 2. All we get is Heather O'Rourke who died during the filming of this or not long after; Im not sure. Maybe that explains why this flix is such a mess. Even Tom Skerritt & Nancy Allen can't stop this embarasment of the series.
This is almost painful, but given writer/director Gary Sherman's portfolio, one can't be too surprised. So yes, 80% of the script is simply "Carol Anne" - someone yelling it, someone crying it, whispering, screaming, or saying it mockingly...one can look past this thanks to the god awful acting, the ridiculous mirror-filled (and glaringly obvious FAKE mirror-filled) setting and of course the whole idea that Carol Anne's parents simply shipped her off to Chicago...
The major disappointment with this installment, as well as the second, was the introduction of "Kane." This lukewarm character offers no chills...in fact he doesn't contribute much of anything, and what he DID have he spent all of in the sequel. The faceless evil force of the original movie succeeds in that ever-successful method of leaving your mind to create the ultimate hellish entity.
The amazing thing is that this guy went on to make the 1989 film "Lisa" and even THAT was a step above...
Not as scary as the first movie but it does end perfectly with a fitting tribute to the little girl who will always be "Here" to remind us what real horror movies are about!!!!
I really like this movie, I can watch it over and over again! I especially like Tom Skerritt and Nancy Allan as Carol-Anne's de facto parents. The only thing I don't understand is what happened to her family? Why did her mom and dad pack her off to Chicago? That was the only part I didn't like. I missed seeing them from the first movies.
I feel bad that it was the little girl's last movie but it's awful. It acts as if her parents who loved her dearly in the last 2 couldn't handle evil spirits being with her. So they dump her off to other relatives. This one is just awful and makes part 2 look fantastic.
Freaky, cool and unique. Awesome fx. Personal classic. I could understand people hating it since it turns such an abrupt corner compared to Part 1 & 2 but comparisons aside it's a very cool movie. The mirrors! Truly frightening stuff.
Just stupid. Doesn't have the feel of the other movies at all. Where's the original cast and storyline? A high-rise? Really? Let's leave this series alone now.
I am soo excited i saw this movie!!! I say BRAVO..this movie was such a thriller, that again i had to sleep wiht my sisters!! i love all 3 movies..they are soooo scary!! u wont want to watch these movies alone...ull die of fear!!
The last boring instalment in the 'Poltergeist' trilogy is by far the weakest and most lacklustre, with the only thing saving the film from total disaster being O'Rourke (who was dying from a congenital intestinal disorder during the production). The supernatural forces are back once again haunting young Carol Anne Freeling (O'Rourke, R.I.P) who has moved in with her uncle (Skeritt), aunt (Allen) and cousin (Flynn Boyle) in a high-rise apartment building. Basically the same kind of formula as the first two. The ghosts want Carol Anne and no-one will let them get her. No wonder both Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams (who played the parents in the first two) didn't want to return for this rubbish. The acting is all weak with the exception of Rubinstein and O'Rourke. The direction is quite appalling as well. The effects were slightly impressive, but that's about it. The script was quite horrible as well. The film also drags on way too long and becomes drawn-out and confusing, and by the end it's impossible to keep up with what's going on. A very disappointing effort!
Strange sequel, but very dark and chilling some times. It proves Heather O'Rourke's last performance. She will be missed, cuz she was the best of this movie.
the last movie Heather O'Rourke was in before her untimely passing. she was 12 years old. fans know her best as Carol Anne Freeling, and her best known line was "they're heeeeeeere!" Rest in peace, Carol Anne.
This scared the crud out of me when I was a kid, and now it just looks stupid. It actually makes me mad now. Kane just GIVES in at the end??? Come on...
well.... ive seen the other poltergeist movies and they absolutelutely were the bomb!! sooo.... i thought this 1 would be good 2. poltergeist movies are sooo super awesome!!
their back...carolann has moved in with her aunt in Chicago and the poltergeist has moved with her...don't believe the downers on this film, yes heather was unwell from mystical happenings and she died whilst filming but it is still a great film i think its the best one
This was barely any good. Lots of bad acting with a weak story. You cold see the change in Heather O'Rourke in the movie. As most of us know, she died while filming this movie. Several of the actors looked like they didn't want to be there though. Just a very weak movie.
not the best of the three, but chilling because you can see what is happening to Heather O'Rourke.. she really did not look good.. and then you can see the difference when they used the double because she died... it really is sad to watch.. I think it might have been the best had that not overshadowed it..
