Cult favorite of comedy geeks. Louis CK disowned it when my brother and I met him after he did a show at CMU. We all secretly love it. Chris Rock is awesome in it
Pootie Tang (Lance Crouther) is the coolest guy on the face of the earth, he is just 'too cool for words' and uses his own made up words like 'sa da tay' and 'kapa-chow' but somehow everyone always know what he means. He is a singer, a actor, a crime fighter and a role model for all kids, until one day evil corporation owner Dick Lecter (Robert Vaughn) gets his hands on Pootie Tangs crime fighting belt and Pootie Tang goes into a deep depression. Will he be able to stop the bad guys without his belt? Just from hearing the plot, you know this is a movie that doesn't take itself seriously. It's over the top silly, but I found it pretty damn funny and entertaining. So if you like the comedy style of Chris Rock, don't sit this one out, but it's really not a movie anyone will enjoy.
this movie lures you in with athe promise of watching chris rock doing his thing and making you laugh till you cry...but it doesnt, it has bad acting, bad jokes and a nonsense story. even a comedy must have standards, this one doesnt... and the great chris rock has a few insignificant 5 minute parts in the movie... avoid
Oh my god, how was this so bad. Out of all his characters from the Chris Rock show to make a movie about, why. (David Cross as the fake Pootie was mildly funny).
This movie rules in so many ways! I can watch this over and over again. Totally stupid in the best possible way and so redeeming. Chris Rock has a wicked sense of humour. This movie is : Too cool for words!
Pootie Tang really is the best man in the world.
Me and my cousin watched this several times and laughed our poor asses of everytime.
Next time they should do a movie about Dirty dee.
....Directed by: Louis C.K.
....Pootie Tang pushes blaxploitation to the point of surrealism. The title character--who first appeared on The Chris Rock Show--speaks a kind of slang on steroids, an incomprehensible stre...( read more )am of nonsense syllables that nonetheless makes him irresistible to women and a threat to evildoers everywhere. Pootie is part movie star, part superhero, righting wrongs with the slap of his daddy's belt. But when an evil corporation uses a super-ho named Ireenie (Jennifer Coolidge from Best in Show and Legally Blonde) to steal this magic belt, Pootie must find himself again. In the title role, Lance Crouther glides through the movie like Isaac Hayes's skinny younger brother, while Chris Rock lends his trademark bark to multiple roles, including Pootie's father. Crazed editing and a great soundtrack give Pootie Tang a little extra oomph. A bizarre comedy, likely to develop a cult following. Cameos by Missy Elliot and Bob Costas. --Bret Fetzer
This movie is capable of being hilarious the first time you see it. Don't watch it again, though, because you know every joke and it gets a little old. Watch it once and preserve the memory.
I gotta watch this... I mean, come on, who doesn't at least want to check it out? With Chris Rock it's bound to be funny. Pair that with a title like Pootie Tang and you've probably got an absolutely hilarious movie. Or a total waste of time. Depending on your view of humor.
I have to give Chris Rock credit for coming up with his own language. For months, my best friend and I were running around screaming "Oh nooo, not the tippy-tah!" and "Sign yo' piddy on the runny tine!" But the movie was only lightly pepperred with gems; the gorilla scene being one of them.
FUNNY!! I can't decribe it in english. Swe: Skit rolig film om en kille vars hela kraft är kopplat till hans bälte.. Denna är nästan ett måste att se.. hel ful!!
