Riding the wave of Hollywood remakes this is quite a polished production. Perhaps a little farfetched as far as the heroics go but at the end of all their trouble they still look like sexy movie stars.
My God, this was an awful movie. The acting, the very unrealistic situations, the randomness of some of the things that happened (kid getting lost and stuck somewhere, the sudden appearence of a towel). Everything. It was just terrible.
A wild ride! Not the greatest character development, or the best disaster movie I've seen for pure suspence that just keeps building. Although its worth seeing it, especially in the movies. some people compare it to titanic; they're completely different
I't been ages since I've seen a disaster movie and even long since I've seen the origional of this one. The sets were amazing and I called every death but one. Richard Drreyfuss stayed alive much to my pointing out many oportunities for his death.
Poseidon was a great remake of the old adition. The cast was great, and it made you want to see the last survivors make it to the service. If you like sinking ships and sispence this would be your movie
Suprisingly enough, there were very few annoying characters in it, (which most movies of this genre seem to have a lot of; Yknow, to get the audiences emotions all rilled up, like, damn that bastard! lol!)
Anyway, I thought that kid (Jimmy Bennet) did very good acting!
The story actually came from a novel by Paul William Gallico in 1969.
Havent seen the first film (The Poseideon Adventure - 1972), maybe Ill try to watch that as well, but for this movie alone, I found it to be AWESOME!
Dont really care what others had to say, I found it good and thrilling, had me hooked every step of the way!
Tight gripping! Dont forget to breathe!! *2 thumbs up!*
This reminds me of the Poseidon Adventure from back in the 70's or 80's. It's a decent movie. The ship gets flipped over, lots of people die, a small group of folks try to get out, some of them die, half escape, happy ending...yeah.
Better than it has a right to be but the original is still best. Just shows that beefed up special effects isn't always best, a lesson for George Lucas.
This movie had too many main characters that weren't introduced properly. Either the movie should be longer, with longer introductions for the characters, or it should have fewer main characters, because when the catastrophe struck, since I didn't feel that I knew any of the characters I simply didn't care about the fate of any of them.
this movie luks so kewl n i heard it great 2 i wnted 2 go c it wif ma m8es bt thy ddnt wnt 2 c it n we ended up watchin the da vinci code lol bt tht was kewl 2
The only reason I enjoyed/watched this movie was because of Kurt Russel. Other than that this movie tried to be an emotional journey of people making hard decision based on life or death scenarios. While the special effects were mindblowingly realistic at times it unfortunately not save this movie from sinking much like the boat.
Perhaps it is best summed up as a good example of a mediocre film. Neither really good or bad, it resides in that gray area where it was just...eh. Just watch if it's on cable...maybe!
surprisingly an alright movie. very sad ending. i was annoyed that fergie was in this movie, but oh well. really loved kurt russell in this! however, the script was pretty awful.
A breathtaking rollercoaster ride. Better effects than the 70'S original (that I also love) and one heartstopping set piece after another. Remember to breathe while watching this because you may forget.
