i loved this movie....a western but with black cowboys....this posse definitely handled themselves very well....big daddy kane was smooth in this movie...the cast did a great job n this movie......
I was friends with a kid in elementary school, and he saw this and thought it should've been called Pussy because he was impressed by all of the sex in it.
Rather trashy blaxploitation reinvention of the western, much more in the anachronistic spirit of Young Guns than Unforgiven (Tone Loc doesn't even TRY to act like a cowboy!). It's amusingly dumb, particularly the sequences involving backward gun totin' redneck Stephen Baldwin, but it takes itself a lot more seriously than it should. Nice to see some cameos by stars of the original blaxploitation films of the 70s though.
I'm a big fan of Westerns and this movie in my opinion is an underrated classic. It was probably forgotten by many because it was released the same year as the more popular Tombstone and Wyatt Earp. This movie is more close to an African American Young Guns but has a good solid story all its own about a band of outlaws led by Van Peebles on the run from an insane renegade Confederate colonel played wonderfully by Billy Zane. Stephen Baldwin provides comic relief as sort of the Dirty Steve type character of Van Peebles bunch. Good movie.
