This allegorical film by Robert Downey finds humans playing the role of animals in cages as they wait to be gassed. Flashbacks are used to tell the character's fantasies outside the cage. It is hard to tell if the characters are supposed to be animals.

Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Part wacky comedy (with plenty of jailhouse humping), part existential allegory, Pound betrays its stage-play roots with too much actorly grandstanding but is peppered with ecstatic funk-powered freak-outs."
‑ Ed Halter, Village Voice
"The dog-human switcheroo isn't as straightforward as it should be"
‑ Shane Burridge, rec.arts.movies.reviews
